Trump's tariffs are hurting us in two ways:
First, the obvious: Higher costs β either lower profits or higher prices.
Second, more subtle (perhaps bigger): Weβve signaled weβre an unreliable partner, so allies are reorganizing supply chains to avoid us. That's hard to unwind.

31.10.2025 20:09 β π 21 π 9 π¬ 2 π 0The FAA @FAANewsβ’ 42m β’ β’ . Nearly 13, 000 air traffic controllers have been working without pay for weeks, ensuring the safety of more than 50,000 daily operations across the national airspace system (NAS). As we head into this weekend, a surge in callouts is straining staffing levels at multiple facilities, leading to widespread impacts across the NAS. Currently, half of our Core 30 facilities are experiencing staffing shortages, and nearly 80 percent of air traffic controllers are absent at New York-area facilities. After 31 days without pay, air traffic controllers are under immense stress and fatigue. The shutdown must end so that these controllers receive the pay they've earned and travelers can avoid further disruptions and delays. As we continue to reiterate, we will never compromise on safety. When staffing shortages occur, the FAA will reduce the flow of air traffic to maintain safety. This may result in delays or cancellations. ε

The system is at breaking point.
If the White House believes nothing can turn off enough of their supportersβwhy wouldnβt they, since they won on a record of crimes, bigotry, and policy failureβthen theyβre free to act on their priorities: coddling the presidentβs feelings and, as @aselrod.bsky.social argues, soliciting bribes.

An embarrassingly obvious point, but...
This. Is. Illegal.
If anything like the rule of law were in force, Trump couldn't arbitrarily increase a tariff because he is annoyed.
In important and increasing ways, the rule of law in the US no longer exists.
