Because what do you MEAN I could watch both “The Holdovers” and “Planes, Trains and Automobiles” on this flight — or rather, on the tarmac — but not on any of the streaming services I have? Granted, the latter is on at least one major platform, but still! A PLANE!

I had the travel weekend from hell this weekend (happened to need to fly out of Chicago yesterday and…lol. We’ll try again tomorrow), but I think the most wildly upsetting portion of it was learning that plane movie catalogues are now better than some streamers.

Maybe not THE strongest, but one of my favorite theater experiences remains going to see the live-action Beauty and the Beast. During the scene when Gaston falls to his death, the theater is dead silent, and one little girl calls out “Haha! Suckerrr!”

For real, but at minimum don't buy any digital thing you can't download and play on whatever method you choose. And really, physical media not only protects your access it helps preserve culture from a tech and business culture increasingly hostile to the very idea that human creativity is special.

Not the least of which is because Paddington 2 is a very convincing call for prison reform, complete with psychotic thespian Hugh Grant. What more could you ask for?

For whatever reason — read: because he’s apparently just too pure and polite — Paddington doesn’t seem to hit as hard in the states, but I really believe we’d all be a little better off if more people went to see these films.

Went and saw Taylor Tomlinson at the Chicago Theatre tonight and guys, I think this is one of the keys to surviving these next years. Take time out to go actively partake in laughter with a room full of people. It felt so good to just sit and be delighted with friends.

CAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD was just kind of...fine, for me. It has some interesting ideas, and Mackie is in his groove, but the struggles with rewrites/reshoots showed. Most of the parts I didn't enjoy just came down to sloppiness and/or laziness (see especially: the stinger).
