I was there for this and the John Adams. He really is the most remarkable pianist: his Philip Glass Γ©tudes in the Purcell Room is one of the cultural highlights of recent times. I must say I found the KurtΓ‘g rather too challenging though.

A huge amount of children's homework is required to be carried out on apps. For most, this means on a smartphone. Any ban on smartphones would also require a huge shift in teaching.

Trump threatens to intervene if Iran kills peaceful protesters "We are locked and loaded and ready to go," the president said on Truth Social early Friday, after economic protests in the Islamic Republic took a sharply violent turn.

Yes, killing peaceful protesters is a sign of tyranny.

We’re approaching the 40th anniversary of this spectacular bit of TV, an intro sequence to Wogan’s chat show. If anyone ever says that the 1980s were shit, just shake your head, smile condescendingly and play them this

Letter to the Guardian.
The protection of badgers has a long pedigree (Report, 29 August). Arthur Gore, known as "Boofy", the eighth Earl of Arran, was a fanatical defender of them. He was also a tireless campaigner for the rights of homosexuals. In 1967 he managed to push through a law in the Lords that decriminalised homosexuality but failed to pass a bill to outlaw the cruel hunting of badgers. When asked why he had not received enough support for his badger bill, he replied: "Not many badgers in the House of Lords." Tony Lywood Keswick, Cumbria

Found when sorting an old drive. I still, very occasionally, say 'not many badgers in the House of Lords' and this is why:

Agree on the first point. Disagree on the second. The system is deliberately designed to allow amicable settlement if possible.

TBC I'm not claiming the party written about behaved well. Also it seems there was an error by the IPO in granting the original trade mark. Examination standards have ime gone downhill in the last few years. But ultimately the right outcome was reached.

It sounds as if it didn't get that far, but settled first*. The IP system rightly gives time for parties to settle before a court case.

[*I'm guessing based solely on the report]
