The last lecturer of #PLASMONICAschool2026 is Francesco Monticone from Cornell University (US 🇺🇸). Francesco is an expert on exotic and innovative electromagnetic phenomena in nanophotonics 🔬 and we will learn from him the “Fundamentals of light interaction with complex media and metamaterials”. 🧵/5

The third lecturer of #PLASMONICAschool2026 is Monika Fleischer from the University of Tübingen (DE 🇩🇪), where she leads the Plasmonic nanostructures research group. She will teach us to understand and exploit the interaction between single nanoantennas 📡 and emitters, e.g. for optical sensing 🦠. 🧵/4

The second lecturer in the lineup of #PLASMONICAschool2026 is Marian Florescu from the University of Southampton (UK). He is an expert in ordered and disordered nanophotonic materials 💠💠. His lectures will focus on Hyperuniformity and local self-uniformity in photonic 💡 systems. 🧵/3

The seat of the next edition of the workshop has been announced🥁🥁: beautiful Pisa will host #PLASMONICA2026! Kudos to all the organizers for stepping in: Francesco Pineider, Alessandro Tredicucci, Giuseppe Barillaro, Andrea Tomadin (#UniPi); Alessio Gabbani (#UniFi); Chiara Cappelli (@sns.it).

...by broadening the traditional scope of the conference, seen also that #nanophotonics 💡 is now much more mature field than it was at the inception of the #PLASMONICA series. Therefore we are looking forward to repeat the experiment in #PLASMONICA2026! Let us know your thoughts in the replies! 🗨️

#PLASMONICA2025 hosted for the first time in its history a Special Session organized with an industrial partner, namely, the Smart Eyewear Lab – a joint initiative of #EssilorLuxottica and #PoliMi.

We think it has been an effective way to draw in actors outside academia and reach new audiences...🧵

#PLASMONICA2025 is drawing to a close today, but the last coffee break and poster session were still lively! Complesso San Geminiano has been a fantastic venue and the shadowy porticos 🏛️ of the historical centre of #Modena helped us cope with an early summer heatwave 🫠.

The recent activity of our #Nano-optics Lab at #PoliMi (@vynisle.bsky.social, @paolobiagioni.bsky.social, and Marco Finazzi) is being showcased today at #PLASMONICA2025. Yaping Hou shows lithium niobate #metasurfaces for electro-optics. The enhancement of SHG by a qBIC was measured just few day ago!

Today at #PLASMONICA2025 we witnessed the dawn of "nanoporonics"! Denis Garoli from #UniMoRe abd #IIT Genova showed us (logic) gates realized with #plasmonic #nanopores 🕳️

The special session "Metasurfaces for smart vision and imaging" organized by the Smart Eyewear Lab (#EssilorLuxottica & Politecnico di Milano #Polimi) just started 🕶! Bert Hecht from @uni-wuerzburg.de kicks it off with individually addressable #plasmonic #nanoscale OLEDs (🌐 doi.org/10.48550/arX...).
