In short, dogs are taking over. While there are some great dog owners, there are plenty of careless ones. Again, given I'm often outdoors with vulnerable loved ones, this dog issue needs serious attention to make our natural public spaces ones that all can more safely enjoy. /5

Beyond bylaws, you're seriously going to need to add more dog parks beyond the little token pop-up variety in a couple of places. These for the dog owners who are genuinely wanting to play by the rules, while also giving their dogs a place to run off-lead with other dogs. /4

Ultimately, this is not a dog issue. It's a dog owner issue & there's so little compliance. I spend much time outdoors with vulnerable loved ones. All really tired of big off-lead dogs bounding at us with the usual "don't worry, he's friendly" nonsense. A tsunami of dogs here! /3

Beyond PKOLS, I spend a lot of time outside. Off-lead dogs in nearly every on-lead park, beach, school yard. Personally, I'm so done with dogs taking over all of our nature public spaces, especially because there doesn't seem to be sufficient (any?) enforcement of lead bylaws. /2

Dear @saanichbc.bsky.social

Hi. I spend much time at PKOLS. Can you please advise what you're doing to keep dogs fully away from the beach this coming spring/summer months? Without bylaw enforcement, so few dog owners will actually stay away from the beach as you're intending. Dogs everywhere! /1

A paucity of research explores the high school completion rates and earned credentials among students with
various disabilities and learning exceptionalities. We fill this gap by conducting secondary data analyses of a
longitudinal, population-based administrative database of individual educational records for 68,815 inclusive
education students with assorted categories of support needs (β€˜designations’), followed longitudinally from
Kindergarten (school entry, approximately 5/6 years of age) to Grade 12 (when students typically complete high
school). Data spanned 19 years (1999/2000 to 2018/2019, inclusive), and were collected by the British
Columbia Ministry of Education and Child Care (BC MEDCC) in Canada, who flagged individual student records
with one of 12 designations they annually track for school district funding allotments. Specific objectives were,
by designation: (1) to explore the specific high school leaving credential students earned; and (2) to investigate
associations among seven sociodemographic predictors (cohort, Ever ESL, gender, number of designations,
grade-to-grade transition pace, time to initial designation, and school system) with students’ earned credential.
Included are designation-specific descriptive analyses, as well assorted multinomial logistic regressions in which
students’ earned credential was regressed onto the sociodemographic variables. Across designations, results
showed tremendous variation in students’ earned credential and credential data missingness. This study advances knowledge about the educational journeys and eventual high school completion outcomes of inclusive
education students, helps grow the literature on education as a social determinant of health for inclusive education students, and serves to guide inclusive education policy and programs to support students in Canada and
elsewhere around the world

I came across a little cabin on a little hill deep in a remote Vancouver Island forest. Dreamy.

Can you imagine being in here with a great book and a cup of hot coffee?
