1. It was not an accident.
2. It was not a staffer.
3. While the president may have dementia his racism is not due to dementia.
4. He isn’t sorry. He means every racist thought he shares.
5. His base agrees with him.
6. He will do it again.
7. No one in power will hold him accountable.

The Wright Museums Instagram page is HILARIOUS. Think The Office but it's the staff at a Museum for Black History. Better believe this is on my list of places to visit.

Gladys Mae West obituary: mathematician who pioneered GPS technology
She made key contributions to US cold-war science despite facing huge barriers as a Black woman.
No joke: I got angry hate mail today for writing an obituary of a Black woman scientist—because the person felt she did didn’t deserve the recognition.
Which just makes me want to share it again: www.nature.com/articles/d41...

On Feb. 4, 1999. Amadou Diallo an African immigrant was shot 19 times in a hail of 41 bullets by NYPD, claiming his wallet was a gun. As organizers we hit the streets. African, immigrant, Black (also African) & others, all knew it was the same system of oppression

Spotlighting The World Factbook as We Bid a Fond Farewell
Somewhat devastating news today from the CIA: One of CIA’s oldest and most recognizable intelligence publications, The World Factbook, has sunset. There's not even a hint as to why they …
The CIA just stopped publishing their World Factbook and took every page, including the archived copies of previous versions!
This sucks. It was public domain, so I recovered the 2020 edition (the last one published as a zip file) and shared it to GitHub simonwillison.net/2026/Feb/5/t...

Trump’s Greenland threats reveals no-win dilemma at the heart of European security strategy
European publics and more government leaders are questioning the value of the alliance with the United States under Trump. But a different path remains elusive.
Trump's threat to acquire Greenland exposed a fundamental weakness in Europe's security strategy: its inability to act in unison when facing U.S. pressure, even as an overwhelming majority of Europeans now view him as a force against negative peace.

California asks Supreme Court to reject GOP map challenge
California ultimately seized on the Court’s own words to make Republicans’ case even weaker.
California asked the Supreme Court to respect the will of the voters who approved the state’s newly passed congressional map in November.
The state argued that the Republican challenge implies partisan gerrymandering is only unlawful when practiced by Democrats.

Kehlani Turned Her Grammy Moment Into an ICE Protest and Didn’t Flinch [Video]
Kehlani used one of music’s biggest stages to make her voice count. During her Best R&B Performance Grammy acceptance speech for “Folded,” the Oakland singer shifted the room from applause to accountability, calling out the deadly ICE raids happening across the country and urging artists to stand together.
Video
Instead of keeping the moment polished and safe, Kehlani leaned into purpose. She reminded everyone in the room that influence does not stop at chart positions or trophies. “Everybody is so powerful in this room and in this room later,” she said, framing the awards show as a launchpad, not a finish line.
Her message centered on unity. Kehlani stressed that collective action matters more than isolated outrage, especially in moments when communities are under pressure.
“Together we’re stronger in numbers to speak against all the injustice going on in the world right now,” she continued, pushing for artists to move as a community instead of leaving the work to a few outspoken voices.
The room reportedly reacted with a mix of cheers and stunned silence as she made her closing statement impossible to miss. “I hope everybody’s inspired to join together as a community of artists and speak out against what’s going on,” Kehlani said before ending with, “And I’ma leave this and say, f**k ICE.”
That final line landed hard. It turned a standard acceptance speech into a moment of protest, placing immigration enforcement and state violence directly in the Grammy conversation.
By the time the music swelled and the cameras cut away, Kehlani had already done what she came to do. She made sure the spotlight traveled far beyond the stage and onto a reality too often ignored.
