My biggest irritation in Germany is companies calling during working hours through withheld numbers, not leaving messages and then assuming that my lack of response means that actually no, I don't want the door/heating/floor fixing...

If I listen to a BBC podcast it says its funded by adverts from outside of the UK, so I don't understand why iPlayer outside of the UK does something similar.

But the argument falls down when you can't even download the app and watch some things (like you can for ZDF/ARD, RTVE, RAI...)

I use mine as a cat toy that also collects cat hair for 15 minutes before throwing a tantrum. At least there are physical buttons

If I want to listen to RNE (Spain), Radio Deejay (Italy), FM4 (Austria), Radio Eins (Germany) I can freely download the app from anywhere for catch up, no log-in required, appears on my Apple Music app to listen live.

Why is the UK like this?

I also looked at some commercial stations. All of them don't allow their apps to be downloaded outside of the UK. Most don't allow you to listen from outside of the UK. All require creating an account and giving personal details. Most don't appear on Tunein/Apple Music
