Italyβs first ever win against England is the second story in Gazzetta Dello Sport

In the old days Schalke.

5. Italy now play like a team who believe they can win rather than a team who just hope to keep it tight and nick it at the end
6. England are in disarray, 12 changes isnβt a rethink of strategy, itβs complete panic
7. Therefore this is the best chance Italy have had to beat England since 2012
1. Italy were destroying Scotland before the rain came down
2. Italy were hugely unlucky to not win in Dublin
3. Italy have players at top French and English teams, a settled side, a solid scrum, a good way of playing
4. England won comfortably last year but 2024 was close
It seemed so incredibly obvious in 2016 that this was where things would logically end up
04.03.2026 12:04 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I think we should stop allowing politicians from Oxford University...

04.03.2026 06:22 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Italy's team is very settled and Brex is back. They're going to win. I'm going to be there and get horribly drunk on aperol spritz.

The hotel is still listing rooms available at double the price.
Discussing with other rugby fans - this behaviour isn't uncommon and isn't limited to Italy
At least we got rid of the "green crap"

In Germany there's the Federal Police force, as well as Federal Investigative agencies, but also the State Police forces, with each state delegating organisation of local police forces to relevant towns and cities.
Every few weeks there's far-right & counter protests here and rarely see "heavies"
I would assume so. A friend of mine returned from his family in New Zealand two weeks ago. Transited via Dohaβ¦

03.03.2026 07:05 β π 0 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0For clarification, rooms were supposedly cancelled 4 months after they were booked. Timestamps show that the cancellations were made on the same day in November.
02.03.2026 12:43 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0My interpretation - hotel sold rooms at usual rates and since we were super prepared we booked accommodation right away. Then hotel learns of sporting event with lots of English tourists coming so cancel cheaply booked rooms to sell at inflated prices (listed 2x price on trivago for example).

They say nothing can be done. Cancellation timestamps sent to guests (they presumably don't know we know each other....). When pushed they concede it "may be a system error" but what is done is done, no rooms available. Bye.
What do we do now (aside from scrambling for rooms)?
Direct guests not contacted. When direct guests get suspicious (it is Six Nations weekend and England are in town), they separately email hotel to confirm check-in/out policies and both are told independently that their bookings were cancelled in the system AT THE SAME TIME. rooms re-allocated
02.03.2026 12:40 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Italian legal advice: A hotel in Rome was booked, 5 people via 3 different bookings, all same dates. Two were made direct, one via Booking. Booking guests contacted by hotel in the platform to say hotel is closed for renovations on one specific date, ask guests to cancel, offered goodwill voucher.
02.03.2026 12:40 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 1I did once compare Starmer to Scholz. Which in hindsight was very unkind to Olaf.
01.03.2026 22:01 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Though if we are to lose to Italy then on Saturday wouldnβt be so bad (as Iβll be there in Rome and the atmosphere would be incredible)
01.03.2026 18:11 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Also to note - Mahmood is essentially saying that immigration policy should be made entirely for political reasons and those reasons should be what they think their ideal type working class voter believes. Quite literally a policy of pandering.

A party that is resolutely anti-bourgeois while being staffed and supported by the bourgeoisie is an intriguing and inevitably impossible strategy.
Anyway good luck attracting those Reform voters who hate you.
The biggest problem with the UK's political system is that colossal pieces of shit can write abhorent nonsense like this in a journal famous for publishing vile poison... and still have everyone come to their garden party because it's all a bit of a lark and all in good fun eh chaps wot wot.

The end policy is fine.
As a UK citizen abroad I know that I cannot trust the government, or rely on the Embassy to inform or assist with major legal changes. The communication during Brexit was appalling and what has happened now and how it has been handled does not surprise me at all.
As a Brit registered on gov.uk as living in Germany I got an email with a βthis page has been updatedβ message which I definitely didnβt ignore because the previous ones were about irrelevant changes to local policies in specific parts of Germany
