Academic work weekend, as someone who has not been paid to be an academic for a very long time (someday I'll have to stop)
✅ seminar abstract written and sent
✅ manuscript review submitted by deadline
✅ conference session proposal reviewed for colleague

This data must NOT be made public. Doing so would compromise researcher privacy (especially for vulnerable groups), undermine confidential peer review, and expose unpublished research.
We support accountability, but it must preserve privacy and scientific integrity.

We're concerned about the SRSR motion requesting 25 years of disaggregated tri-council data. While we understand the data is intended to be anonymized, this wasn't explicitly stated in the motion – and the specific information requested could still enable re-identification when linked together.

Is there any data from academia illustrating how short deadlines for things like awards or funding opportunities disadvantage people from groups who tend to take on or are assigned more thankless labor (women), and advantage those who focus more on the work that benefits them (men)?

A grand, historic hotel with a dark brick exterior and steeply pitched green roofs, nestled among dense evergreen forests and partially shrouded in mist, with mountains in the background and a Canadian flag visible on top.
The Banff Springs Hotel is one of the most beautiful hotels in Canada. Nestled in the Rocky Mountains, it offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape.
It also may be one of the most haunted places in the country.
This is the story.

PANDEMIC PIVOT
After designing an experiment dependent on laboratory incubators that were inaccessible during the pandemic, we improvised by turning the childhood home of lead author and graduate student Fleming into a dung beetle laboratory. Fleming used a spare bedroom as a control temperature treatment for experiments, the garage for processing beetles, and a family freezer for storing cow dung, which was used to feed experimental animals. For the sake of science, the lead author ’ s innocent and sup- portive family endured a blazing Tennessee summer without lowering the thermostat in a house that smelled like actual cow dung! We appreciate their sacrifice; our pandemic pivot produced an exciting dataset that allows us to examine changes in the energetics and fitness of dung beetles across their breeding season. Because we had no access to laboratory equipment to measure meta- bolic rate, we turned to a combination of changes in body mass, previously collected data on the thermal sensitivity of metabolic rate, and biophysical modeling to explore the energetic outcomes of increased temperature variation.
