Infographic highlighting the imbalance in special education funding in New Jersey. It states that 67% of NJ school districts receive less special education funding than they need, while $287 million of special education funding is allocated to districts that donโ€™t need it. The graphic is from NJ Fair Funding Collective, with a link to their website at www.njffc.org.

Th State of New Jersey's current approach to special education funding assumes a one-size-fits-all rate, allocating resources as though 15.9% of students in every district require special education services.

This assumption is far from reality.

The picture is the list of Republicans (1) who voted (5/6)against H.R. 9495 (yay!) and Democrats (52) who voted for it (oh no!) in last week's failed vote. (6/6)

I drafted this call script in case itโ€™s helpful to others: https://tinyurl.com/2s35sa62

Please call your Representative ASAP to urge them to vote no on H.R. 9495. You can find the DC # for your Rep here: https://www.house.gov/representatives

This tax relief for American hostages - a noble cause - should not come at the expense of jeopardizing nonprofit operations and democratic values. These provisions should be separated into their own bill that doesnโ€™t include the unchecked harm to nonprofits. (4/6)

H.R. 9495 has been paired with a provision that would provide tax relief to American hostages held by terror groups and other Americans unjustly imprisoned abroad, likely a ploy to push it through with as little opposition as possible. (3/6)

Even worse, this can happen without evidence, intentional links, or any requirement to disclose the reasons for the designation. The lack of due process and accountability leaves nonprofits defenseless against vague and potentially politically motivated accusations.

HR 9495 failed a vote last week in the House but was considered unfinished business & is back up for vote this week. The bill gives the Treasury Secretary (& POTUS) unchecked power to label U.S. nonprofits as โ€œterrorist supporting organizationsโ€ and strip them of their tax-exempt status. (1/6)
