Really tried to get to the root of our problem during the lab meeting today.

But then I realized that we work on mosses, and roots are exclusive to euphyllophytes, so it's kind of alright.

What I kind of don't understand is how this is PPB-independent? If trm678 have more 4WJ, there is direct effect on avoidance phenomenon, no?

Thank you, definitely putting to my must read list! Have you also tried to put this collinearity test outside of Bryopsida (let's say Takakia, Sphagnum, or Marchantia)?

"We found an arabidopsis mutant developing stomata on the roots!"

Not buying it? Eggcellent! What you actually see is a horn of the hornwort Anthoceros agrestis (and what you read was probably my favorite 1st April joke we did in the lab).

Meaning: Scientists are doing their investigative work, which should ideally resault in a publication. Strangely enough, when journals want to publish their work, scientists will gather quite large sum of money and pay the journal instead, probably as a sign of appreciation.

Yes, that's right. Just wanted to try to pinpoint sometimes quite unnecessary workload accompanying the neutral locus game (in this case you would need to perform ca 10x more transformations to proove the same point). Anyway, thank you for the insights!

21.08.2024 20:37 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

So able to get it to the plant, it's working, but not enough to pick ones integrated correctly. Now you are in the situation, where you are able to show things, but becouse neutral locus fetish (I think that it wouldn't be much different if they would be integrated correctly), it's unpublishable

20.08.2024 21:14 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

This is fine and I agree with that. But for example, now I do have a double mutant with a severe phenotype and wanted to put things to the neutral locus. The mutant transformation efficiency is super low (ca 3 transformants per dish).
