Ruaraidh Erskine of Mar was born 'Stuart Richard Erskine' #OTD 15 January 1869 in Brighton. From the 1890s onwards, he gradually changed his name, developed his Scottish identity, and learnt Gaelic. More information about Erskine and his publications is available at erskine.glasgow.ac.uk.

Lachlann MacBheathain | Lachlan MacBean, one of Erskine's regular contributors, was born #OTD 6 November 1853 in Kiltarlity. MacBean was also active in pan-Celtic networks and served as the convener of the Scottish Committee of the 1921 pan-Celtic congress in Edinburgh.

The Gaelic Literature Awards 2025: Winners - Gaelic Books Council The winners of the Gaelic Literature Awards 2025! Awards were presented on Tuesday 16th September at Cottiers Theatre, Glasgow.

It is a pleasure to have a piece on 'Irish Content and Contributors in Ruaraidh Erskine’s Gaelic Magazines’ in the latest issue of the Journal of Irish and Scottish Studies - the first publication based on @erskineproject.bsky.social.

On 20-23 August #OTD 1901, a pan-Celtic congress was held in Dublin, and Erskine served as its vice-president. After two years of @erskineproject.bsky.social, most of the contributors to Erskine's magazines involved in pan-Celtic initiatives are now identified: erskine.glasgow.ac.uk/topics/pan-c...
