The headline says “Only 1361 days to go”
The picture in black and white with a cream background is of a badly injured bald eagle. Its legs are in bandages with strapping around its neck and on its head. Some of its feathers are lying on the ground, detached painfully from its body.

'Lab Leak,' a flashy page on the virus' origins, replaces government COVID sites The new page emphatically promotes a theory that many scientists question. Meanwhile, basic information about COVID testing and vaccines has disappeared.

The average person spends 2 hrs and 23 minutes on social media per day. Over 16 1/2 hours a week. Cut in half, and you can spend an 8 hour day actively uniting and fighting the immolation of democracy in this country. #fighttrump

2003 and 2012 are not on this list. Perhaps they didn't fit the pattern. If so, there was no reason to leave them out--the point is still made. Perhaps we live in a culture where we have to prove things are absolute, or no one believes there is reason to fight for social change. #film #feminism

I’m the Canadian who was detained by Ice for two weeks. It felt like I had been kidnapped I was stuck in a freezing cell without explanation despite eventually having lawyers and media attention. Yet, compared with others, I was lucky

powerful detailed account of ICE captivity

"To put things into perspective: I had a Canadian passport, lawyers, resources, media attention, friends, family and even politicians advocating for me...Imagine what this system is like for every other person in there"

Here is the data for the graph:

Sometimes just plain old words says more than the graph. The most common tool, a ranking of countries by life expectancy is here:
https://www.cia.gov/the-world-factbook/field/life-expectancy-at-birth/country-comparison/
Canada with a life expectancy of. 84.2, ranks 5th from the top, Trump suggests getting United States life expectancy is a reason for Canada to join the USA. The United States life expectancy is 80.9 and ranks 49th. I cannot assume he doesn't know this because it is just another case where he will lie if the truth doesn't help him get what he wants and humans are afflicted with automatically believing lies if they hear them more than five times. I like to add Puerto Rico with a life expectancy of 82.1 and ranks 34th just to add embarrassment as a motivation to change things. But it has never worked. Afghanistan is at the bottom of the list, number 227th with a life expectancy of 56.4. What is life expectancy? the age by which half the people die. That is the median an ordinal measure because frequency of death is not normally distributed , it is high at age 0 but goes down after that and then the percent dying increases to 100% when the oldest person dies.

I think the 24.3% in the text I added to the graph can be rounded to 25% to make the statement: Our death rate is almost 25% higher than Canada's. About four of us die for every 3 Canadians.

I have finally figured out how to add more groups to receive my posts, if you can think of any others that would find the kinds of things I post useful, let me know.

Interview with statistician going through statistical analysis of swing states and other data discussing anomalies worth questioning why Harris didn't demand a recount. Showing herself to be more gracious than Trump wasn't worth the risk.
