Almost: if I'm not moved enough to feel like singing or composing a poem, the cheese has failed to achieve the desired effect.

Definitely worth a bottle if you like your whisky to have a woody / oaky edge.

I really like the virgin oak bottling from these guys - remniscent of the Auchentoshan Three Wood but substantially cheaper.

Today for #FluorescenceFriday Iโ€™m sharing a ๐Ÿ‘ปHalloween-themed๐ŸŽƒ neural crest explant โ€œweb of cellsโ€ from Julia Godinez, a 4th year @ucdavis.bsky.social graduate student in the lab. She is studying mechanisms driving conserved and divergent cranial neural crest migration and differentiation. #DevBio

Thanks Mike, it's such a relief to finally get this across the line, given that I already knew the key result in 2014! Hell, I first stuck channelrhodpsin in reuniens during my PhD back in 2008 when such things were becoming cool (trying to use it to turn off network activity in entorhinal cortex).

Monosynaptic retrograde tracing from hippocampus proper shows no cells originating from nucleus reuniens (NRe), unless the starter cells are present in subiculum region. Left: Injection site for dorsal CA1 and viral spreads for the helper virus (green cells). B and D, Injection site of a dCA1 injection: green cells contain helper virus and red cells are pseudotyped rabies virus positive and starter cells (yellow) shown closer on the inset, shown by arrowheads. C and E, No cells found in any thalamic section containing NRe.

Excitatory input from #PrefrontalCortex to #hippocampus pyramidal cells is believed to be mediated through the thalamic nucleus reuniens. @mickcraig.bsky.social &co show in rodents that this brain pathway is unexpectedly minor, contrary to assumptions in the field @plosbiology.org ๐Ÿงช plos.io/48u6mle

For Starmer and Labour the point is to beat Reform in elections. Maybe this will work, to that end.

But for the public and the nation, the important thing is to defeat the fascism and its racism. And this approach will achieve the very opposite

GABAergic circuits reflect different requirements for sensory integration in postnatal mouse neocortex Information transfer in mammalian cerebral cortex is dependent on GABAergic interneuron circuits that are widely assumed to be uniform across the neocโ€ฆ

A rather 'unique' paper from our lab is online in @cp-cellreports.bsky.social now. Unique in the sense that I don't think anyone else will be rushing to optotag cortical interneurons in the early postnatal brain... because it is nigh on impossible!
