Candy bags were out and being categorized by 7:15 am this morning! Though I did have the kids eat an actual breakfast before any candy.

Woke up this morning thinking about how it was Dress Like a Book Character day for my kindergartener, and the Corgi Cowgirl costume was not likely to cut it for that. Princess in Black to the rescue. I threw together a Princess Snapdragon costume with superhero cape & construction paper collar.

Sounds intense!

Their robotics teacher says the next tournament is going to include more programming elements like Python.

So I am not super familiar with all the varieties. This first one was a Vex tournament? I don’t even know if that means anything because I have never taken robotics. 😅

They built a robot that seems to use a remote control.

First robotics tournament for my 6th grader yesterday. They barely finished building their robot the week before and had 1 rehearsal challenge. But they owned the first match, and ended up just barely outside qualifying for finals—against 7th and 8th grade teams!

She came back energized and excited

This weekend I asked my middle schooler if she still wants to be a baker when she grows up (what she’d been saying since she was a toddler). She said “Actually, I haven’t done any baking in a while. I think I really want to work with something with books—but NOT writing them.”

This year it’s a mix. The zinnia and cosmos are annuals. The dahlia is a “tender” perennial. Its depends on the roots not getting too cold during the winter. So you dig up the tuber each fall.

Maybe event coordinator is calling your name. 😅 Only that’s hard for introverts!
