Unlike Collins, we also worked really hard to get him elected and he just… I don’t even have the right word. Shiv comes to mind.

I’m also a CD2 voter and will never vote for Golden again. I think this US the best news! Dunlap is solid and I hope more candidates show up.

I’m pretty shocked at the golden light here on Jared Golden. He’s wildly unpopular and there are many of us who will no longer vote for him. Framing Dunlap as a big P progressive is also misleading. First time I’ve had direct lived experience at odds with your examples.

Why you might donate money to a Food Bank instead of food.

-Food Banks can purchase food in bulk for lower prices.
-Food Banks can purchase what they need.
-Purchasing food when it’s needed helps Food Banks deliver food by its expiration date.
-Your dollars go further and your donations reduce food waste.
-Food Banks can get food people want.
-When Food Banks buy the food they can partner with grocery stores.

I think & hope so. They’ve been very savvy so far. I’m going to start my vol time with them soon and will be loud. They also really need to tap into our β€œnew Mainer” communities, and get into the nitty gritty of immigration/asylum. Platner is new to the scene, so he has some details to get out asap.

15.10.2025 10:52 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I personally know so many people who are pro Platner and do not understand having to enroll to vote in a primary. He has a huge education hurdle to manage. I’m glad his campaign is working on the absentee voting referendum this fall first, to get folks involved in actual elections.

Also maybe I’m a huge optimist. But it does feel like machine politics and huge money just does not fly here. It turns off the voters and quick. Sigh. I was hoping she wouldn’t run.

14.10.2025 18:49 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Yeah. For me, a huge downside to this is that they’ll needlessly dump in millions if not billions of dollars into a media environment that cannot sustain it. We’re about to waste so much money.

Her track record points to running in a respectable way, and I think she’ll support whomever wins the primary. Maine is not the same as NYC and party machines don’t work in the same way. (Gideon is a prime example)

14.10.2025 17:21 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Mills is great. She isn’t a fierce defender of trans rights in particular, she’s a fierce defender of Maine law. Shes a lawyer and law enforcement official first and foremost. She showed up to debates and took the time to win over more progressive voters when she ran, which is a huge upside of RCV

14.10.2025 17:16 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Gideon didn’t debate any other candidates, and used a full staff (comms esp) from out of state. It was hers to loose. But Collins certainly has inertia on her side.

A reminder about Maine is that we have ranked choice that will apply in the primary and general for this race. I think that Mills will back whomever wins the primary, and the big hurdle is getting Platner voters registered into the party. We are not really party aligned people here…

Nothing that is happening today would be happening without Reagan. (And folks like Collins.) I don’t see how we build a moral and new next step without acknowledging this.
