I recognize that something like Indiepocalypse would still be fairly niche in a medium with a more recognizable arthouse/indie culture, but games feeling like it lacks one (among the broader non-dev culture) makes for a more interesting challenge?

While I've gotten increasingly hands-on recently with organizing Indiepocalypse, I've been pretty lax in the last few years when it comes to actually spreading it around and I'm thinking of making 2026 something of a Try Year.

Yeah, that feels like something more unique to games where there's more of an expectation for them to be fun like a hobby instead of fun like art. (which is often not "fun" but a very impactful and enriching human experience)

Leaving the movies also just reinforces the feeling that I really wish there was a wider appreciation for a wider range of games. My aspiration for a Try Year is set to survive through my usual weekend unwind.

A late night barrage of reposts can only mean one thing, my movie night is over and I'm here to remind you (or inform you) that hey, a new Indiepocalypse came out today!
