Additionally, the vast, chaotic traffic circle nearby has been removed and is now an orderly intersection, allowing for the large pedestrian square in pic 2 that will only get more pleasant as the plants grow and cool the urban desert. #Hanoi

Thanks to Marco Hinzer and the whole team who put such care and effort into this event, which challenged us so much while bringing us deep into the ecosystem and culture of the German, Austrian, and Italian Alps.

An amazing experience riding The Alps Ultracycling Adventure from Tegernsee to Lago di Garda this week. Highly recommended for endurance cyclists who like lots of rugged climbing into remote and beautiful locations. Great camaraderie among riders and crew!

Bluefin tuna are miraculously returning to UK shores โ€“ only to be tormented for โ€˜sportโ€™ | George Monbiot A tournament in Cornwall will pit anglers against these magnificent creatures, as part of a rising trend for so-called โ€˜sportfishingโ€™, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

I wonder how many cyclists are happy about Shimano sponsoring this horror.

๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ชGeorgiaโ€™s paradox: a government despised by its people, yet firmly in power.
Ivanishviliโ€™s Georgian Dream survives not through popularity, but by fusing repression, economic dependency, and rigged institutions.
๐ŸงตIn this thread I try to explain this paradox.

I agree that NYC is self-obsessed. On the other hand, I was fascinated by the diversity and cultural richness while walking around there. Asian megacities have distinctive atmospheres, but many feel like the same neighbourhood has been copy-pasted endlessly.

You ever think about how the Great Famine in China was in large part a data manipulation problem created to please an authoritarian leader that led to the deaths of tens of millions of people?

Montreal Adds Nine More Car-Free Streets after โ€˜Mind Blowingโ€™ Success Four years after Montreal decided to make a 2.5-kilometre stretch of a busy downtown artery car-free every summer, the transformation continues to receive rave reviews from users and local businesses.

โ€œTo use a technical term, it blew my mind,โ€ said Vancouverโ€™s former chief planner Brent Toderianโ€ฆโ€They werenโ€™t lazy about itโ€”they didnโ€™t just throw up barriers and ban cars. It might be the best bargain Iโ€™ve ever heard,โ€ Toderian said. #Montreal
