Between property taxes, fire, earthquake, auto, and umbrella insurance, I'm paying $22,886.50/year to live in my home. Obviously, I have not included utilities, medical premiums, co-pays, prescriptions, food, etc. Utilities--ratepayers are screwed over in favor of investor-owned utilities.
