Thought I'd check in to say I've taken a step out of my academic writing cave but not to venture into the great outdoors (it's 90 degrees and I'm such a fragile Shakespere flower). With all the nastiness going on, I'm going to read romance and write genre fiction. My form of self-care.

"Mario" sent this from WA where they were harvesting cherries. The high temps that day reached 93°. They were working piece rate which meant they we're working as fast as they possibly could to make a couple of extra dollars. #WeFeedYou

A worker harvesting cherries

It's peak season in WA State cherries. Workers are paid piece rate and earn $4.50 per 22lb bucket. (The same as they earned in 2022). If they work super fast they can harvest 50 to 60 buckets in a 9 hour day during this very short peak season. #WeFeedYou
