exactly! if *you're* frightened by it and want it to change, then it would be good for you to learn to depend on others

but if it's just other people who are frightened by you... that's fine? they don't have to be like you?

okay, I can see that being true for some people. but reaching out can also be what burns people out. it strikes me as very odd to assume people need to be more reliant on others just because some people prefer that type of interaction

some people would rather deal with problems alone than have to deal with problems in a group. that's a preference, not a disorder

okay? but this is presented in a weirdly circular way: when one is very independent, one doesn't depend on a lot of people, and therefore one doesn't have many people to depend on... but a person who likes being independent doesn't want to depend on people. so why assume this is bad & pathological

a 36" floor loom reed, which is basically a large comb with very evenly-placed steel teeth. it's been cleaned up and is shining in the winter sunshine.

...Harrisville still had some of the old-style cranks in stock, so that was easily replaced

The reed was slightly rusted, but not dire. Scrubbed it down with baking soda, then soaked in with CLR cleaner, and now she's all shiny

now I just need to decide which yarn to play with first

all cleaned up & ready to go!

I asked Harrisville Designs about the serial number: it's a Model T loom from 1975. I washed down the wood and refinished it with linseed oil; removed some light rust from the metal parts with steel wool

the only missing part was a crank handle, but thankfully...
