Every now and then I might post important concepts on single crystal diffraction analysis from my recent review. Today, this wrapped-up version of figure 1 reminds us what we lose in the process, and what we actually gain at the end: a model 💎

I don’t think I’ve ever had more fun in the lab than when I was making MOFs myself (and trying to use them for small-molecule X-ray structure determination). So let me celebrate by posting a few of the MOF crystals I prepared:

Ah yes, the British Museum. Because there's just one thing they haven't stolen yet: the show. Not to worry, they're on it.

Importantly, the employer files the petition, so the employer would be required to include a $100,000 check with the petition. But the ban on entry appears to also apply to ANYONE with an H-1B currently, and says that petitions must be "supplemented" with a $100,000 fee, so who knows who pays that.

I never imagined being part of this terrifying experience... Calling campus police for updates, monitoring alerts, and later evacuating my building, feeling more exposed than before. Just a surreal fear limbo. Sure didn't feel like a false alarm with cops, ambulances, firetrucks, and swat on campus.

Serial femtosecond crystallography reveals protein dynamics in real time Proteins are constantly moving, but our structures of them are static. Clare Sansom talks to the researchers using free-electron lasers to make time-resolved structures

What if we could watch proteins move in real time – see photosystem II turn water into oxygen, for example? Thanks to cutting-edge techniques like serial femtosecond crystallography and XFELs, scientists are doing just that.

There is only one possible ending to this story, and sports aren't the last chapter. I guarantee that if you haven't lost five decades of rights in two weeks, you have no idea what this feels like, so I'm begging you: protect trans kids right now with everything you've got.

He ridiculed it b/c it was irrelevant to the present discussion, and functioned as a distractor that takes people's attention away from the actual issue.
If at a serious meeting at work someone asks "Is the surface of the sun hot?", is the presenter obligated to answer that stupid ass question?
