I met a lady with the LITTLEST dog, and i asked to pet him and she said "okay, but he's shy so he's probably not going to, oh, i guess you really know how to pet a dog!"

reader, it made my day.

The most important thing I've ever read in my entire life. It changed everything. I started at 14 and it became me.

if we could go back in time and talk to someone about our day to day hassles, it would be mental illness. if we could go back in time and journal about our feelings, we'd win the PKD award for paranoia. but we can't go back. we just have to sit through this world like everyone else.

A picture of Barbie holding a laptop with another Barbie dressed in a labcoat, from a promotional campaign called "I can be..." underneath is a messy typewritten quote from the Hacker Manifesto: "This is our world now. The world of the electron and the switch; the beauty of the baud. We exist without nationality, skin color, or religious bias. You wage wars, murder, cheat, lie to us and try to make us believe it's for our own good, yet we're the criminals. Yes, I am a criminal. My crime is that of curiosity. I am a hacker, and this is my manifesto. You may stop me, but you can't stop us all."

someone in some dumb video clip referred to walker percy’s lancelot as being in the second person which is a stretch, and then they said that along with bright lights big city they are the only good books written in the second person and now I’m apoplectic

I lost my whole family to the fire. I cried for months. Nothing could console me. Until I woke up this morning, and I could fly. Just spread my arms and go.

I've been posting some memories and thoughts about A Softer World comics from the archives. It is nice to think back on what they meant, and where they came from. It's nice to visit.

Ballad of a Small Player was watchable. Colin Farrell and especially Fala Chen were good. There was a scene on the waterfront which made me understand and care about their characters with an effortless and surprising gentleness, and I wish the movie had lived up to that.

I've started watching My Brilliant Friend on HBO and it isn't afraid about taking its time. It delivers, but it has a patience and respect for the viewer that I find very refreshing.
