Time will tell whether Americaβs ham-handed approach to change the regime in Iran works. Several power centres still exist there. The Afghanistan regime change didn't lastβ¦is Iran even going to begin? Changing regimes from the outside rarely brings lasting peace or good results. History lesson.

Why did US and Israel attack Iran? They see opportunity not to be missed
Israel and the US believe Iran's regime is vulnerable, dealing with an economic crisis and the aftermath of protests.
An opportunity too good to miss- #Iran in economic crisis, people protests & a weakening regime. If Iran had to be taken, this was the time. Khamenei is dead, but no guarantee that his proxies won't take over the reins. Invasions don't fix things. History tells us that.

South Asians eat better, yet have higher risk of diabetes, heart disease by 45. US study flags paradox
Researchers followed nearly 2,700 adults aged 45 to 55 over a decade, drawing data from two long-running cohort studies, find mismatch between healthier lifestyle and clinical risk.
A US study flagged a mismatch between healthy lifestyle choices & clinical risk. Genes must be why South Asians are at risk despite healthy diets. South Asia is incredibly diverse but people marry deep within their own communities...which increases genetic risk.

Afghanistan and Pakistan at war again. Pak claims it launched strikes into Afghanistan to target "militant camps and hideouts" but Afghanistan retaliated. Funny Pak is so worried about terror camps when there's no shortage of those in their own backyard.

Lack of empathy is not always a result of pent-up frustration. There is something intrinsically wrong with these people. They are psychologically damaged probably due to poor upbringing. If they didnβt get this outlet they cd find another. A pity so many disturbed people exist in this world.

True the cars are designed in such a way that a minimum space is required between it and the other vehicle. In India cars often have a couple of inches between them and 2-wheelers as well so driverless cars are impossible here.

IBM is the latest AI casualty. Shares tank 13% on Anthropic programming language threat
COBOL is a computer language used for business data processing and IBM is a leader in that area.
Not only is #AI here to stay, it's advancing at super speed. Every AI company is in a desperate race to be the top player. Lets hope that ethical companies win this race.

'They've probably been untouched for 49 million years': The New Mexico cave expanding our search for alien life
In one of the most baffling discoveries of the last decade, scientists have found a clue in a cave to how life might survive in deep space without light.
This is certainly the stuff of #Sci-Fi which no Sci-Fi movie or book has every explored before. Alien life which evolves in total darkness and doesn't need light to live. Can intelligent life evolve like this? What will it look like? Something to think about...

The translation industry's been badly hit by AI. After reading about this I tried to use chatgpt to translate my first novel from English to Marathi. 8/10 sentences were wrong - either incorrect, too formal/informal, wrong words, or missing the context. Luckily, being the author I could correct it.

So much brouhaha abt Andrew arrested for misconduct. Why? The #royal family is just an ordinary family & is bound to have a bad apple. They are worse than other #British families. They treated their daughter-in-law (Diana) badly, 2 bros don't talk & other scandals. No achievers either.

Calculated hypocrisy: Why Western powers court Beijing but rely on US
Economic engagement with China does not amount to strategic realignment.
The world may partner w/China economically, but from Tokyo to Seoul to the EU- no one trusts China. Not only bc there's no alternative to US security protection. China is viewed as a threat, even if the US is considered predatory. It's prosperity vs survival.

What Makes People Proud of Their Country?
From diversity in Indonesia to food in France, people in 25 countries share in their own words what makes them proud.
Why we feel pride in our country varies. 1/4 Americans cite freedom, 1/4 of British, the people's character, like 41% Japanese, 25% Aussies, 28% Koreans. 18% Germans cite their economy & 38% Italians their art/culture. Indians don't have a significant consensus.

US military commander, envoy Sergio Gor visit Indian Army's Western Command
At the Western Army Command, the American delegation was briefed on the capabilities of the formation, past operations and the path ahead.
First time an American envoy visits an Indian Army Command. The collaboration is even more significant, given the US-India tensions of late. Apparently, it's all to be ready for #China, if it comes to that.

The book cover
Being comfortable doesn't make you happy, but feeling loved does. That's why you find happy faces in countries with a low happiness index & fewer happy faces in the "happiest" ones. So don't believe those indexes.
How to Feel Loved by Lyubomirsky & Reis, is a book about happiness.
