Focusing on one main character is good actually but I think you mean you donโ€™t flesh out the other characters. Perhaps changing the protagonistโ€™s character so that heโ€™s forced to involve himself in other lives might helpโ€ฆmaybe.

For me itโ€™s the opposite. I start off writing a short story and it goes on and on until I realise that itโ€™s not a short story!

Itโ€™s also class. Indians donโ€™t respect manual labour.

I get the impression that your output is very high. Itโ€™s like you are continually writing story after storyโ€ฆ

Arenโ€™t there pavement bookshops in Mumbai? You can get good bargains there. I remember seeing one near madras cafe recentlyโ€ฆ but maybe because of the rains it isnโ€™t there now.

The sun is closer to Japan in summers, like kind of near to overhead, because of the summer solstice.

Maybe people should study what happens to the people in authoritarian regimes. Itโ€™s just started there and so most people are going about their lives thinking it will pass. I travel to the US every year and I saw no change this year. I think even your politicians know little about other countries.

I would say very average intelligence & Iโ€™m being diplomatic. The bhakts are blaming Trump. Not their leader. Well, at least they have realised that the US is not our friend.

It may not be the best, but life is good. Fantastic public infrastructure like parks, libraries & roadways for eg. Yes packaged food is expensive but thatโ€™s so in all parts of the world. Gas is relatively cheap in the US. Americans donโ€™t realise how good they have itโ€ฆ however this could change.

Yes, true. Their life, often even their social life, tends to fall apart.

Men are more likely to die of 'broken heart syndrome,' study says The condition is usually brought on by the stress of an event like losing a loved one.

People do die of a broken heart, more common in partners who've been together for decades, with the risk being highest in the first 2 years. And although more common in women, men die from it at more than twice the rate.

Death by alcohol. It's highest in Belarus, Mongolia and Russia. It also leads to maximum deaths from all types of cancers...and in Russia, it leads to a high rate of drowning!

โ€˜Self-termination is most likelyโ€™: the history and future of societal collapse An epic analysis of 5,000 years of civilisation argues that a global collapse is coming unless inequality is vanquished

The end of the world is coming, caused by evil, narcissistic leaders & greedy business people, says Luke Kemp in Goliathโ€™s Curse, through climate change/ nuclear war/killer robots/AI. This no longer seems impossible.

I wanted to go to Tibet and live with the monks in my forties for a bit. To write. Maybe if I had I would have written more novels. Word for it could be hibernation.

A refusal to the heroโ€™s call is a story in itself. But there has to be a good reasoning behind it; usually an emotional block. So a back story is needed. How the protagonist overcomes this block to get to his goal can make the story very interesting.

You are talking about real lifeโ€ฆ one has a passion but different things unfold. That must be cut out or you wonโ€™t finish in 300 pages. Besides, you wonโ€™t hold the interest of the reader. You can weave in subplots of course as long as they donโ€™t dominate the main plot.

A peacock standing majestically on a streetlight against a background of trees and the sky.

Where we live peacocks roam freely. Catching them on camera is difficult as they're shy & I'm no photographer. Before I know it...whoosh! Gone into the thickets & trees. If I'm lucky I get a tail in the frame. Perhaps the body. This time I got almost the whole peacock!
