The Patti Smith Group played the Palladium (126 E. 14th St.) on May 22 & 23, 1979

Zappa lived at 180 Thompson St. during this period, quite literally a one-minute walk around the corner from the Garrick.

Gail and Frank Zappa walk along Bleecker Street on May 20, 1967. The Mothers of Invention played a gig at the Village Gate (160 Bleecker St.) that night. Four days later the group would begin a months-long residency at the Garrick Theatre (152 Bleecker St.).

“Index,” a single-sided cardboard flexi-disc included in Andy Warhol’s Index, a book and multimedia package published by Black Star Books in 1967. The flexi features a portrait of the Velvet Underground’s Lou Reed by Billy Name.
