I have some personal distastes about other facets of the game, but on the whole, it is very very very good.

After more playing, I've found I can view "missing parries" not as a personal failure, but as a reality of the game that should be solved/compensated for through other means. Framing the "numbers" of the JRPG not as a crutch to get me through a fight, but how I can beat a deck stacked against me.

I’m having this weird thing with Expedition 33 where if I still beat a boss after failing most of the parries, I don’t want or like that victory. Take it back. It feels given by numbers, not earned by skill.

A) What’s wrong with me

B) Should I take it to therapy

Jesse nails it here. The level design of 4 remains great, but exploring its spaces and collecting goals without time pressure was 50% of what made it special and memorable (for me). If I wanted my kid to one day play classic Tony Hawk games, I’d sit him down with 1-3 Remaster but the OG 4.

We’ve played both standard and commander in the house, so really either! Standard is a better weeknight game for me. That’s a good idea, tinkering with the commanders precons.

Been having fun learning and playing MTG but I’m really only interested in using FF cards. Have a bunch of bulk from boosters — are there good guides out there for building budget decks using only FF?
