I dog-ear pages with zero guilt but will treat a cracked spine like a personal tragedy. One feels like a shortcut. The other feels like betrayal. Anyone else have arbitrary book morals like this? πŸ“š

Seasonal reading but make it classic πŸ‚

Autumn? Frankenstein + Jane Eyre
Summer? The Odyssey + Treasure Island
Winter? Little Women vibes

Classics paired with the right mood = literary magic

I keep a book I hated on my shelf because I argue with it in my head when I walk past. It’s like a bad roommate I never kicked out. At this point, we’re in a long-term toxic relationship.

Didn’t even think about the audio version! Asides sound like a clever solution.

I genuinely think footnotes are almost always more fun than endnotes. If I have to flip to the back every time, I just won’t. Let me stay in the moment with the author. But curious to hear if others feel differently?

Sometimes I stop in the middle of reading a gorgeous paragraph just to reread it out loud like I’m auditioning for the role of β€œperson who discovered language five minutes ago”

Classic Literature Revival: Why Your TBR Needs a Time Machine Let’s be honest: our TBR piles are already dangerously high, threatening to topple at the slightest nudge. But what if

Your TBR might be dangerously high, but it's missing something: books that shaped storytelling itself. Ready for a literary time machine?

That’s a good point! If the characters aren’t very relatable or likable, then the writing really has to stand out to make up for it.

I don’t think a book needs to have β€œlikable” characters to be great. In fact, some of the most unforgettable novels I’ve read were driven by people I’d never want to meet.

I think some "unlikeable" narrators are just people who feel too real. We're fine with messy characters on TV but expect moral clarity in books. Curious what draws the line for you. When do flawed become unforgivable?

Winter = must clutch hot chocolate while reading romance
Fall = cannot read anything that isn't sufficiently gothic and academic
Summer = if it's not a beach read, I don't want it

We're all following the same script and I'm not even mad about it πŸ“š

Sometimes I reread a paragraph 3 times not because I don’t understand it but because I spaced out imagining my own dramatic reaction to the scene if I were in it. I win Oscars in my head.

I’ll always choose a 6-hour audiobook with a great narrator over a 900-page literary epic I’ll never finish. Sometimes hearing the story IS the deeper connection. Does format really shape meaning or do we just like to think it does? Curious what others think. πŸŽ§πŸ“–
