My partner is a forester mostly because he wanted a job where he could be outside. I became an outside person after being with him, and I’m so mad at all I missed coming from an inside family.

This is what my students say too (my class is the last they take before student teaching 🙃). I do think there is room for theory but it always has to be connected to practice and we could all do better at that, especially early on when the courses are LOTS of theory.

(I have been very teacher braggy lately. Whoops! Apologies for my lack of inner monologue. I'm trying to recognize things I do well so my brain stops being an asshole. I think it's working?)

My favorite thing to teach (that I've not heard any of my colleagues have as concerted a focus on) is handout creation. It's SO HARD to make an aesthetically pleasing and productive handout for students. My pre-service teachers mostly nailed it this semester. 🥰

It really must. I feel for her. It’s so hard when you feel helpless to protect and help your students.

I am really good at teaching, and I love making students see their own strengths.
