I would say that Hamas had been provoking Israel for years. Israel left Gaza years ago and Hamas kept attacking Israeli citizens.

The war won't be over until Hamas disarms. They're already executing people. I don't think Israel won, at least not yet. They just got the hostages back. And now that ordinary Palestinians have flocked back to Gaza City, it will be hard to disarm them without more citizens being killed.
