glyphosate is amazing for the environment and the health of farm workers, RFKj is terrible

additionally, I'm pretty sure titanium dioxide is used in all kinds of things and would be characterized as GRAS if it were in the right category

I'd say if we want braver legislators we need better media coverage. The slant and massive funding for conservative media causes so much damage for Dems that don't seek bipartisanship. Not sure how we get there though.

After reading 50+ books about cognitive science and learning, the redundancy becomes overwhelming. The chess board, the phone number memorization, etc. are in nearly every single book.

It's so frustrating, how can you not have seen this coming? I don't understand.

biodegrades (and quickly), requires substantially less product (less synthesis + transport), more effective, and healthier than previous herbicides

Feel free to provide quality evidence refuting any of those

Any good advice in it for science teachers?

You can hate Bayer/Mansanto all you want, but the science of glyphosate is that it's a miracle for the environment and for the health of people who apply pesticides/herbicides. The lawsuits against it are baseless to push more spending in the wellness industry.

I wouldn't mind if ICE was used to target people who write stupid comments on the internet. They'd just track them down irl and humiliate them in front of their co-workers who'd post the video for me to watch.

Not sure what the optimal solution is, but it is a big obstacle for innovation here in the US

I think a relevant issue that doesn't get enough discussion is the challenge admin face with polarized departments. I hear from so many teachers about implementation of weak curricula, and the rationale is often about avoiding having to manage multiple teaching philosophies.

If the field were to widen to include better teachers such as yourself I think much of that can be corrected. But there is a difficulty in many teachers being drawn to simplicity that allows them to justify their current methods.

In my view they reduced teaching too much in an effort to simplify complex interactions. That's why there was an over-emphasis on "learning" but an underemphasis on "thinking". Truly many of those though probably have had minimal interaction with great teaching.

It distracts from their inability to define/use thinking which is a much more difficult term to incorporate into teaching/learning

If you're going to cite an advocacy group with no research/evidence in contrast with scientists with ample of both, why not hold them to some form of quantifiable standard? Use good journalistic practices, it matters here.

Really? Most rural places have incredibly high crime rates. TC is above the national average.

I think the "I do, we do, you do" isn't great for procedural knowledge either with the exception of when the teacher isn't very smart. Most teachers that do well with it, are limited by weak conceptual understanding. But that conceptual understanding is relevant to procedures.
