This is the traditional form of the kettle stitch. Now I’m ready to add on a new signature and repeat the process going the other direction!

At the very last hole, the thread is on the outside. I tighten the stitches. Then I thread behind the stitch on the previous row, facing the needle outward from the signatures, and pull through. After that, I go behind the new stitch I just created, this time facing inwards, and pull through.

After the first two holes, I take the needle and thread it underneath the thread nearest to the next hole, and pull all the way through. Then I return it into the hole above, and out the next. This is the french link stitch.

This is repeated until the last hole.

Here’s a small tutorial of how I add on a new signature.

I place the next page on top, like this. Then I bring the thread through the first hole, then back out through the next one.

I don’t worry too much about tension now because I pull everything taut at the end, careful not to rip the paper.

The talk to your friends app and the witness the horrors app being the same app is not great for the mental health is it

Binding it actually compacts the signatures down quite a bit, and it will be even more compact once I glue the spine and press it down (with big book or a brick. I dont have a book press unfortunately.)

Here’s how it’s looking after five signatures!

I’m working back to front and periodically checking to make sure that the pages are in the correct order.

I finished stabbing the holes (with only a few small mistakes) so I’m ready to do the most fun part, which is sewing!

I’m going to be doing the french link stitch, because it’s my favourite.

This guy housed me while i was recovering from bottom surgery. Help him out
