I know saying something as simple as “the world we address is the world we create” is a gross oversimplification and may seem to some as either an acceptance of too much power or a gross rejection of same power.

I truly believe we would live in a very different world if the people we, as a society, looked to for wisdom took the time to understand even the most basic elements of magic.

Oh, I didn’t mean stories from those areas aren’t valid or boring, only that those seem to be the default settings for urban stories (usually by people not from either of those places).
I just want people from, like, Tucson, to look towards Phoenix for their stories instead of LA.

The other thing about midsize cities? They’re close enough to rural areas you can play with that sandbox too. Career women tangled up with killers from the sticks, etc. tons of room to tell more stories were not seeing. I just need people to send us those stories.

As an editor at one of these places, I can say confidently we *desperately* want more urban stories. ESPECIALLY ones that aren’t set in NY or LA. Show us what happens in Charleston or Cleveland or Denver! These mid size urban populations are slept on!
