Withnail and I is the most quotable film of all time with Richard E Grant about 2 guys who go on holiday by mistake. Set in London in the 1960s. I find it hilarious. Bit of a cult classic that one

If I was to do another B&W it would be β€œwent the day well?” It’s a war film from about 1942 about a German invasion of a small British village. It destroys stereotypes and has several really strong women characters.

Perplexity Perplexity is a free AI-powered answer engine that provides accurate, trusted, and real-time answers to any question.

Google is becoming increasingly less useful, following a trend it started in 2012. I’d suggest trying perplexity.ai and see what you think of it. And try ChatGPT as well for different questions. Let me know what you think.

Well other than the fact that all the platforms we use will be gone and the data wiped. As happens already!

If you try and use an LLM as a calculator of course it won’t well, that’s not what it’s designed to do.

In that case you’re using AI tools wrong. Start by being clear on what you want, get a chatbot to ask you questions before it responds with an answer. Same as it’s always been - ask a vague or rubbish question and you’ll get a poor answer.

Google peaked in about 2012 with excellent functionality which it’s spent the last decade removing. Remember, Google isn’t a search engine it’s an advertising platform that uses search to deliver ads. & that’s now failing badly. As usual Google is falling way behind and shows a lack of understanding

Well no. Increasingly AI search engines (and let’s be specific please as β€œAI” is a generic term) are increasingly accessing the web directly and returning results based on what it finds and including links.

Even 6 months ago the idea that I’d stop using Google for search and Twitter for general news and networking would have seemed mad, but here we are. The speed of change is getting insane now.

Ohh, just managed to get blocked on here for the first time. But if someone writes hysterical nonsense they should expect to get called on it. And if you’re also a librarian, doubly so!

I’ve never read such utter hysterical nonsense in my life.
