This comes on the back of reports of multiple organ transplant patients dying at Prince Alfred Hospital due to mould. Our hospitals are moudly death traps but don’t worry everyone, Albanese is sending $380bn to America and gifting their pedophile rapist president a gold-plated figurine.

Two kids with cancer died at Westmead Children’s Hospital due to mould in the wards. This is unacceptable and unbearable. Sorry is nowhere near enough

People doing important work like this deserve the protection of large institutions. While independent media is cool & exciting I get really nervous about the risk we’re asking individual journalists to take on.

We have to think of sustainable ways to support this work, beyond keeping the lights on.

Marsupials previously thought extinct for millennia discovered in New Guinea The chances of finding one mammal species thought to be lost was β€˜almost zero’ and finding two is β€˜unprecedented’, biologist Tim Flannery says

The disgusting AUKUS agreement has locked Australians into Trumps military madness.
The public can’t get an honest answer from our govt, we are treated with contempt as our military personnel engage in illegal US/ Israeli warmongering. What’s next, sinking Chinese warships?

They’ve been claiming Iran has a nuclear weapons program for as long as I can remember and have yet to offer up any credible proof for this. For over twenty years the west’s entire posture in the middle east has been premised on this unsupported claim.

Long-COVID Sufferer Awarded Nearly $1M After Employer Refused to Let Her Work From Home | Law.com A jury in Nassau County awarded $954,000 to a longtime employee of Stony Brook University Hospital Blood Bank.

A woman with Long Covid won almost one million dollars in a lawsuit against her employer who refused to allow her work from home accommodations.

May this set a precedent.

Remote work should be accessible to all who need it.

It’s a game changer for people with disabilities.

We covered the reasons why Albanese is like this on our latest pod. It doesn’t require psychoanalysis imo. He has no moral/political centre, there is no serious left in Australia anymore and the media ecosystem is more right-wing than ever.

All of that pulls an operative like him in one direction

U.S. sub sinks Iranian warship off Sri Lanka, killing 87 and expanding war zone A U.S. submarine sank an Iranian warship off the southern coast of Sri Lanka, killing dozens of sailors and dramatically widening Washington's pursuit of the Iranian navy.

A US submarine sinking a lonely, dinky Iranian surface ship an ocean away from the theater of the main conflictβ€”and 9000
miles from North Americaβ€”makes it pretty clear the US is fighting a general war, without the declaration required by the Constitution. www.reuters.com/world/asia-p...

Story on The Australian front page:

Israel’s deadliest day: Nine die in public shelter in Beit Shemesh struck by Iranian missile
Volunteer medic Ronit Elimelech rushed her elderly mother and three children to the shelter as sirens wailed, instinctively grabbing her vest and the medical equipment she’d used to save countless lives. It wasn’t enough to save her own.

All civilian deaths are tragic, but we're getting a real sense of whose lives are valued more.

If The Australian had run this story for Gaza it would have had to do it more than 8,000 times.

Never mind one for the around 150 children killed in a Tehran school just this week...

Racists will tell you that Islamophobia is not racism because Islam is not a race, and then write letters to Lakemba Mosque threatening to, as the ABC reports, kill the "Muslim race".

Animals’ perception of time is linked to the pace of their life – new study For a starfish, most of life is literally a blur.

This is cool, it's possible to study an animal's perception of time by electroretinagrams, seeing how fast a flicker needs to be before they no longer see it as flickering.

Once again the @walkleys.bsky.social have conflated judging arts journalism and arts criticism. As a 30+ year practitioner of both, these involve very different skill sets. I predict criticism - already endangered in Australia - will continue to be sidelined. It's a regressive decision.
