Hi Everyone! This is our first Bluesky post! Excited to be on here and look forward to chatting with y'all. This photo is from the historic Iowa Tornado Outbreak May 21st, 2024 this year. #tornado #stormchasing #weather
28.12.2024 01:21 β π 126 π 16 π¬ 4 π 1Iβm Tim, and I grew up in eastern #NewMexico. My fascination with #storms began when my mom introduced me to the movie "Twister" and the series "Storm Chasers." In 2017, I started #stormchasing and documenting them with a DSLR. I founded Extreme #Photo Workshops in 2021 to share my passion.

Roll, OK. #wxsky
Hoh Rainforest, the forest floor is covered with fallen dead leaves and lush green ferns. Roots and vines wind every direction. Countless trees fill the space and every inch of them from root to trunk to limb is absolutely covered in different species of mosses, mushrooms, and small plants.
Massive rock formations stand alone where the pacific ocean meets the sandy beaches of coastal Washington. A few trees and plants dot the top of the tall rocks. In the distance, the terrain of the cliffs along the shore is covered in forest, and more black rock formations are evident along the beach and out at sea
Multicolored aurora borealis fills the sky with rows of pillars and splashes of light, obscuring all but the brightest stars in the night sky. One of the mountains in the North Cascades rises to the sky beneath the auroral arc, surrounded by pine forest and other terrain features. In the foreground a grassy clearing with a creek running through it, a reflection of the sky and mountain peak mirrored on the waters surface.
A grassy field gives way to pine forest as the terrain climbs towards a mountain that shoots up well above the horizon reaching for the aurora filled sky. Reds greens and purples all shine through as the corona dances overhead. A few bright stars shine through the aurora to complete the gorgeous nightscape.
I definitely need to revisit Washington and the PNW sometime when Iβm not completely burnt out from the season and still have enough energy and mental health to actually get out and around.

Back on May 22, 2022 I snapped this photo of the monstrous Morton, #Texas tornado (EF2) with my iPhone. This grainy photo ended up beating out my Wray DSLR photos for the craziest engagement - more than two million engagements! What a day.

Twin tornadoes dancing perilously close to small farmsteads in southeastern Colorado. The one on the left was rated EF-3 and at its peak was capable of much more. The one on the right only survived a few minutes.

28.11.2024 06:46 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0A giant branchy bolt of lightning illuminates the anvil cloud of an active supercell in eastern Colorado in 2023. It splits about midway down and has two landing points near the distant barely visible town of Eckley. The tilled farm fields and outbuildings of the foreground are also lit up by the flash.
In the rolling hills of the Nebraska panhandle, a small farm sits at the horizon, and its fields fill the foreground. The sun breaks through the bright white clouds at the top left and provides dramatic lighting for the incredible scene below. From the shadowed cloud bases on the right, a long, skinny, curvy white tornado snakes its way into the light and plants behind the farm sending dust from the fields beyond the horizon skyward. The power lines and farm provide scale for how incredibly tall the tornado is, as they are almost not noticeable next to it.
A skinny white tornado reaches 3/4 of the way to the ground in the grassy fields of eastern Wyoming. The sun coming in from behind the storm illuminates the deep greens of the grass, and makes the laminar white tornado really pop out from the dark cloud bases behind it. Above the tornadic circulation, the bluish hue of a hail-filled supercell glows in the clouds.
A dying supercell miles in the distance fires off one of its last flashes of lightning in the Texas Panhandle area. You can see the anvil fade off into the distance and the skinny choking updraft is illuminated as it runs out of steam. Above the storm the milky way and all the stars fill the night sky, and tiger stripes of bright green airglow add even more awe to the striking scene.
2023 was a pretty incredible year for photos, so its almost mind boggling that the 2024 storm season has been so good I havenβt posted last year almost at all since April.

27.11.2024 20:43 β π 13 π 2 π¬ 0 π 0A colorful supercell thunderstorm hovers directly over the road ahead. A lightning bolt strikes right over the road - its light reflects off of the wet pavement, illuminating the foreground, and reveals details in the cloud structure. On the left of the storm is a clear blue night sky full of stars. [P.S. to my storm chaser friends from Twitter...I am sorry. You already saw enough of this storm, but I am still getting through them here. Just mute 'Ada' or me].
