When the dust settles, I hope we remember that on the precise evening Trump (a) pulled his cultural critics off TV and (b) designated his political enemies as terrorists, the UK was giving him every honour imaginable, and glorying in its "special relationship" with his regime.

Why has Gazans’ hunger attained the status of ‘moral crisis’ when Israel’s genocidal slaughter did not? No one understands the hollowness of its facilitators’ changed rhetoric better than the Israeli government

Another great piece by Mark O’Connell.

It was my great honour to interview the one and only Francesca Albanese yesterday. Watch here, and find out why Trump and Rubio are so determined to stop her vital work:

'Understanding Ireland’s dependency as a defining feature of Irish economic development allows us to see how the State’s undemocratic actions to support global extractive industries, erode our neutrality, and fail on Palestine are part of the same political economic matrix.'

Delighted to read this. It's over six years since we reported on this @dublininquirer.com and it's a testament to the perseverance of the community that this is finally happening. A major victory against the council's antipathy and I hope they get the facilities they want on the remediated land.

Surrealing in the Years: Kneecap are NOT the story. And yet. It’s easier for powerful people to talk about Kneecap than it is for them to talk about Israel.

"Surely, the same Micheál Martin who was just a few weeks ago japing about Ireland’s housing crisis in the Oval Office with a bona fide fascist should have some empathy for statements made during a performance."

This week's Surrealing in the Years.
