Thanks Steve, yes I did think it must be a Scarce Bordered Straw, but I haven't seen one looking quite like that before.

Breckland Landscape Recovery getting it just right. Ambitious, but achievable. Complex enough to hit objectives for nature, but straightforward enough to actually be delivered. Enthusiastic, but realistic leadership. It’s conservation Baby Bear’s porridge. Well done them πŸ‘πŸ‘

Or could the first one be Phyllonorycter nicellii, possibly?

@mothiduk.bsky.social Grateful for your thoughts on these three: Phyllonorycter klemannella? Phyllonorycter platani? and not sure on the third. All in Norwich today. Thanks.

I wouldn't like to say on this one. Can I suggest you post it on to the Hoverfly Recording Scheme Facebook page who will be able to assist.

Pleased to see the scarce dune loving spider Marpissa nivoyi at Horsey dunes yesterday. Long known from the North Norfolk coast but just a single record from the East Norfolk dunes until now.

A nice fresh Yellow Horned in my moth trap this morning. Widespread in woodland but scarce in coastal east Norfolk, only my second record in 11 years at Horsey.

Syntormon metathesis

Syntormon metathesis

Syntormon metathesis is a small dolichopid fly which was only recognised as British a few years ago, but appears to be sparsely present in fenland habitat in the east of England. It also appears, unusually, to be winter active judging by this female near Great Yarmouth in Norfolk today.

Aphids aren't everyone's idea of excitement, but this one has cool eyes on stalks. This is Caricosipha paniculatae, found on sedge at Sweetbriar Marshes in Norwich today and no doubt very under-recorded. Thanks to James Emerson for the ID.
