A lot of time is spent asking if an AI can "feel" or "know" but the much more interesting question is the opposite. Can a computer suffer? Can it be exploited? Can it be subject to domination? Alienated?
Maybe we should spend our time worrying about those of us that can answer yes.

Most of the talk about OpenAI, Anthropic and “mass surveillance” neglected to mention that widespread scraping of the web is in itself mass surveillance.
