Why does Arne Slot simply refuse to start Chiesa? What is the issue? Is it because he didn’t want to sign him originally?

It’s not unreasonable to look at the squad in the summer and not prioritise 2 centre backs, a LB a starting RB, a 6, a Thiago replacement, a Fab replacement, a Gini replacement and a Diaz replacement. You could argue we’ve got a Diaz replacement in a fit Chiesa but he’s clearly shagging Arne’s Mrs.

So, Frimpong was a sensible squad purchase as he has got legs and can play a few positions but he’s not a right full back in a four man defence IMO. Bradley we all want to succeed but he’s definitely not an elite right back now or perhaps in the future. Ignore Leoni he’s a sensible future buy. Weak

He can sit next to Fede whilst we watch Cody toil though, so that’s nice

We need: a starting right back. A left centre back who can also play LB. We need to replace both Matip and Quansah. We need to replace Gini and Fab and add an Emre Can type. We need a Diaz replacement and an out and out speed merchant. We needed all of this in the summer.

And you are genuinely surprised? Stopped watching it in about 2021 and treat it as it should be treated. Absolute 🐕 💩

Well, here’s a thought. Start games with impetus and purpose. Our first fifteen minutes in games is dreadful under Slot

Love Chiesa - not just because he saved our arse again with that last man clearance, which was amazing, but also because when you watch the highlights - how bloody happy he was when we equalised!! He loves the club and we love him - just wish the manager felt the same way #LFC

We need more tempo, more creativity, more passion - Chiesa brings all those things - stuff happens when he’s on the pitch. Even in the embarrassing league cup shambles against Palace he ran his arse off - he deserves a chance and a run of games #LFC #Chiesa

Gakpo certainly has a role to play in the squad. He’s an intelligent footballer who rarely has less than a 6 out of 10 game but he is not a starter for an elite team.

Regardless of who we sign next or promote from within they simply must have legs. We look like a team desperate for athleticism

If every player showed the hunger and intensity of Chiesa we would still be top of the league - #LFC

He’s not recovering from his big surgery in the summer very well. If we had more midfielders he could have been brought back carefully

Slot’s treatment of Chiesa is such a mystery to me

Mainly because Diaz, Jota, Nunez worked really hard at stopping teams getting out. He’s also been massively overplayed as we have no alternative options

Not really mate, outside of Dom and in fairness Wirtz we have no legs when Curtis isn’t in midfield. I don’t care who we sign from wherever but they need to be athletic because we look lethargic especially off the ball

We have lost legs, pressing, graft and a sprinkle of quality from Trent. Salah a year older and we have still never replaced Fabinho. Mac has taken ages to recover from his big operation. You have to earn the right and that means being competitive off the ball

He’s getting no meaningful protection. Genuinely I would rather Endo play 6 than Grav. He doesn’t want to make tackles or win second ball. If we had a decent 6 Grav is probably on the bench

Fede Chiesa keeping Slot in a job with that clearance but he’ll be benched again against Leeds and Gakpo will start once again #LFC

Gakpo awful again tonight. Think I would’ve burst into tears if he came out for the second half.
