Operation Metro Surge leading to budget concerns for City of Minneapolis There are concerns in the City of Minneapolis that Operation Metro Surge could lead to higher property taxes.

I'm really asking: What is the math on all of this? If Metro Surge started Dec 1, and they claim to have deported 4,000 people, at a cost of $18 million a week, and it's been ten weeks, they show no sign of leaving, and we leave out the murders—$2billion to destroy us?

🇨🇺 CUBA | Cuba is bracing for a deepening fuel and electricity crisis as the United States enforces an energy blockade aimed at cutting off oil supplies to the island, President Miguel Díaz-Canel said in nationally televised remarks on February 5. Díaz-Canel said the government will roll out a contingency and defense plan in the coming days to manage fuel shortages affecting food distribution, transportation, hospitals, schools, and industrial production. “It is reprehensible that a power such as the U.S. would adopt such a criminal policy against a country,” he said, describing the measures as deliberate economic suffocation.

Díaz-Canel confirmed that Venezuelan oil shipments have not arrived since December, following the U.S. kidnapping of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, and said Washington’s threat to impose tariffs on any country supplying oil to Cuba has effectively closed alternative routes. The result has been daily, multi-hour blackouts, including recent widespread outages in eastern provinces, further destabilizing the national electricity grid, NBC News reported.

Rejecting claims that Cuba is a “failed state,” Díaz-Canel said collapse narratives are being used to justify pressure. “There is no failed state here,” he said. “What exists is a country subjected to maximum pressure for economic suffocation by the world’s leading power.” He stressed Cuba is not at war, but “we are preparing ourselves in case we have to move to a state of war.”

He said Havana has received expressions of solidarity from Russia and China, including direct communications between their top leaders. Díaz-Canel reiterated Cuba remains open to dialogue with Washington without pressure or preconditions, and with full respect for sovereignty.

Post image "After careful reflection, I have decided to resign from the government.
The decision to appoint Peter Mandelson was wrong. He has damaged our party, our country and trust in politics itself.
When asked, I advised the Prime Minister to make that appointment and I take full responsibility for that advice. In public life responsibility must be owned when it matters most, not just when it is most convenient. In the circumstances, the only honourable course is to step aside.
This has not been an easy decision. Much has been written and said about me over the years but my motivations have always been simple: I have worked every day to elect and support a government that puts the lives of ordinary people first and leads us to a better future for our great country. Only a Labour government will do that. I leave with pride in all we have achieved mixed with regret at the circumstances of my departure. But I have always believed there are moments when you must accept your responsibility and step aside for the bigger cause.
As I leave I have two further reflections:
Firstly, and most importantly, we must remember the women and girls whose lives were ruined by Jeffrey Epstein and whose voices went unheard for far too long.
Secondly, while I did not oversee the due diligence and vetting process, I believe that process must now be fundamentally overhauled. This cannot simply be a gesture but a safeguard for the future.
I remain fully supportive of the Prime Minister. He is working every day to rebuild trust, restore standards and serve the country. I will continue to back that mission in whatever way I can. It has been the honour of my life to serve."

The media’s sudden shock over Mandelson is embarrassing.

They fawned over him and if US authorities hadn’t released the Epstein files, they’d still be rubbing shoulders with him at Zone 2 dinner parties.

Now they’re clutching their pearls like they weren’t part of it. Pathetic.

Why are so many undocumented immigrants being held in detention for so long instead of being deported?
Simple. The billionaires who own the detention centers get paid for keeping people here. They don't get paid for people who get deported.
It's not about the law, it's about taking your money.
