Another saying my mom always used was “You’ll live till you get married.” This was often in response to a minor injury or if you were having a bad day. She was one of a kind.

Generational tough love is a good way to put it.

My mom wanted to prepare us for the uncomfortable truth that life isn’t easy or fair. Useful lesson for these times. She also had a difficult life that informed her behavior at times.

Yes, totally normal. That’s the dialectic of living with Olive. She’s both scary and adorable 😊

My mom could be harsh, but in her harshness, I learned important lessons. “You need me
more than I need you.”

We need a little more of this energy right now. There are more of us than there are of them. They need us more- we have power. I hear you Jackie, and you’re right.

Absolutely bonkers sunrise in #Pittsburgh this morning. I couldn’t believe how vibrant the colors were and how they seemed to stretch to every single part of the sky. One of the best sunrises of the last year, hands down.

The the historic district does have that feel. There are 22 squares within about a square mile of the city. It’s pretty like this year round.

I am well as far as I know. The risk of recurrence never goes down for the kind of cancer I had, so I’m grateful it’s been 15 years so far.
