And I mean, streaming has never been a full-time thing for me, but the landscape has increasingly become such that if you're not treating it like a full-time job, you may as well not be doing it. That's why I'm on hiatus and will be on hiatus until it feels like fun again, you know?

What pisses me off more than I'd like to admit is that Hegseth is too stupid/drunk/both to realize just how pathetic and weak he sounds when he thinks he's being cool and badass. It's not fair. There should be like a drug we could give him to make him self-aware and cringe until he shits himself.

I loathe the perspective that storytelling needs to spoonfeed positive morality to the audience for fear that idiots might think insider trading or underground fight clubs are a β€œgood thing.”

I’d argue art that never challenges is what creates ignorant audiences.

I genuinely despair for people trying to create movies, books and TV shows for an audience that needs to be told β€œTHIS IS THE BAD GUY AND HE HAS ZERO REDEEMING FEATURES”.

The joke used to be that viewers liked having their intelligence insulted.

Now I’m wondering if that’s even possible.

If the most important metric of a successful story is the inability of the dumbest audience to walk away with a misreading of the text then SpongeBob SquarePants is too much for many Americans.

In an early part of UniQure’s trial, doctors performed fake surgeries on 10 patients at the request of the FDA. One developed dangerous blood clots from lying on an operating table for too long, according to people familiar with the matter who asked not to be identified discussing the private information.

This is not a trivial level of harm.

I am just now catching up on the fact that the FDA was demanding Uniqure do sham brain surgeries (from what I can tell, comprising simulated burr holes and 10-12 hours of anesthesia) in their placebo arm for their Huntington's therapeutic, and I'm absolutely floored that this was a serious demand.

I don’t think LLMs would take off without this kind of userbase, because they’re the ones talking to ChatGPT and Grok all day every day because they think they’re reaching Jesus levels of insight. This is why the technology gets called a scam, because the industry is definitely scamming these people

06.03.2026 14:06 β€” πŸ‘ 593    πŸ” 45    πŸ’¬ 10    πŸ“Œ 2

So a lot of the hype around LLMs and a lot of the userbase just fundamentally misunderstands what the technology is and what it’s capable of, instead treating it like a mythical supernatural or religious being. The industry openly encourages this delusion for profit

06.03.2026 14:03 β€” πŸ‘ 735    πŸ” 74    πŸ’¬ 10    πŸ“Œ 8

The thing is, a lot of LLM users actually think it’s capable of God-like intelligence, and that’s clear from the ways they interact with it publicly

They fund it in Gaza. They're doing it to Venezuelan fisherman. They're doing it in Iran. They're doing it in the streets and in concentration camps to immigrants in the US. They've done it to US citizen protestors on the streets in Minnesota.

There are no limits to what they are capable of.

The difference is really about whose needs we consider normal and whose needs we consider extra.

I say it a lot but TBH the entire history of human technology is about accessibility. It's a lot easier and more effective to stick a post in the ground with a hammer than it is with a fist. It's easier to carry water in a jar than in cupped hands.

residential wide doorways and hallways? Stairs that aren’t cramped and steep? Easy access in and out of public buildings? Dark mode on your phone? Text to speech and speech to text? Closed captions?

All fucking awesome. All accessibility features I love and use every day.

Disability accommodations are a rare thing that actually trickles down. You like curb cutouts? Auto-opening doors? Jar openers? Ramps? Hand rails? YOU’RE WELCOME

Even as an abled person you use disability accommodations every single day.

Supporting accommodations actually helps everyone.

I don’t understand why Labour aren’t scared of the younger voters. It’s going to hit them so hard when the baby boomers are all gone and us Gen Xers are declining. The younger generation will hold them to account!
