on the one hand it would be ludicrous for them to release extremely damaging information when they control what gets released

on the other hand they are very, very bad at their jobs

when I was a kid my dad could have kicked my ass because he was an adult. now I could kick my dad’s ass because he’s old. but there was one day between then and now when we were exactly evenly matched. the father/son convergence

Oh they don’t like the whistles? Hey everyone, they don’t like the whistles. If you use them it makes the armed goons sad.

I don't think Johnson's humiliation today was kayfabe, sir, and I think Trump sees Johnson as very much a proxy for his own power. I think Trump is on the back foot right now. You're right that Bondi will stonewall but I don't think she'll last against to any actual pressure.

ICE never left L.A. The military did but they aren't the ones terrorizing the city. Please don't ignore L.A.

Mechanic [sliding out from under Optimus Prime]: I think I see what the issue is. This truck is also a big guy somehow

Oh I'm aware, I just thought the President was throwing those words back at him over something that happened today.

Trump sees Johnson as basically a proxy for his own power so for Johnson to get so completely blindsided over this makes me think Trump himself is also blindsided.

Is this about Epstein, or Texas?

True. I had the same concern. I still do to some extent, but I looked at the bill text and it does require that anything classified after this past July 1 must be identified along with who directed it to be classified and the justification for doing it. No stealth or retrospective classification.

I have a sneaking suspicion that Majority Leader Thune does not like Speaker Johnson very much.

I'm not saying there's no way he wriggles out of this jam but this is 100% him on the back foot.

Surely you know that if motion for Unanimous Consent fails that the bill still comes up for a vote, right? If you didn't that would be really embarrassing.

I really thought after last week I would never again say the words "You're being unfair to Chuck Schumer" AND YET

Some people miss that they can just have a regular vote if UC fails. OPEN THE SCHOOLS!

18.11.2025 22:03 β€” πŸ‘ 68    πŸ” 5    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

A lot of people in these replies don't seem to understand that if a motion to pass by unanimous consent falls that the bill still comes up for a vote, and that scares the shit out of me.

18.11.2025 22:02 β€” πŸ‘ 10    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Whole lotta dummies in the QTs and replies that seem to not understand that if UC fails there can still be a damn vote.

18.11.2025 21:57 β€” πŸ‘ 4    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I mean if UC is rejected they can just hold a damn vote

oh and the consequences for being wrong about vaccines are measles outbreaks and worse, which is further evidence that will not convince the dumbest people alive somehow that vaccines are good.

and that’s before you even get into the hideous ways they think of/talk about people with autism

I feel like this is like the one time in ten years that meme hasn't applied because I am pretty sure that Trump is not happy about this and that Thune doesn't care.

Very disappointing to see @bostonglobe.com running a piece from Richard Hanania today.

Thune's foot seems to be down and if any Republican wants to object to UC they are more than welcome to do so. No reason for Dems to miss the forest for the trees here.

Burchett's UC motion included amendments to the bill that would have thrown it into procedural limbo. I'm all for putting R's on the spot but after a 427-1 vote there's not really any point to seeing if any Senators are truly stupid enough to die on this hill. Send it to Trump's desk as is asap.
