Calvary Walk to Build Building to serve

Tomorrow, I’m running a half-marathon through the desert!

I’m asthmatic but my brother’s church in Arizona feeds the hungry, helps the homeless, & tutors tons of underprivileged kids. Their building is fullβ€”they need a new one! Please support my run; help me help them givebutter.com/c5sZ4h/the-a...

We are at a time and place in the US where women's voices and freedoms are at risk. I cannot wait to read this arricle about a nameless woman whose voice was silenced by society, but was "heard" and elevated by Daniel centuries later.

Thank you for your important work, Daniel!

β€˜An Absurd Rage for Public Speaking’: An Abolitionist Fair Orator in the London Debating Societies, 1788–1791 On 11 May 1789, the night before Parliament’s first debate on ending the slave trade, a woman advocated for abolition before hundreds of Londoners at a debating society. Despite her compelling orat...

🚨 I'm thrilled to learn @Cambridge_Uni has covered the immense cost to make my article on the Fair Oratorβ€”an 18th-century woman against the slave tradeβ€”FREE!

I’ve wanted the world to know her story. Could you help by Liking & Reposting?

You can read it for free: www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10....

Would value your prayers as I speak in just a few minutes at #ETS24 on β€œDo You See This Woman,” exploring how Scripture compels us to see and hear women like Dinah, Tamar, and Hagar. Praying this brief talk helps make the church become safer.

This photo by IVP Academic doesn’t convey how packed the room was. I was one of many squeezed into the front sitting on the floor, many others were standing at the back and along the sides. It was my highlight of #ETS. I hope everyone, everywhere will read @carmenjoyimes.bsky.social’s paper.

I never knew that the Bible doesn’t say Bathsheba was on the roof! @carmenjoyimes.bsky.social’s β€˜Take Another Look at Bathsheba’ revealed the text as a Rorschach test, exposing what readers see, and reveals what God seesβ€”a victim of sexual violence. This paper was masterclass of exegesis.

Would love to join if I may. I was a whistleblower at RZIM, and am hoping my PhD and adjacent research will contribute to addressing abuse in the church

Anyone else on BlueSky attending ETS in San Diego this week? I’d love to attend your paper!

My paper is titled: β€œβ€˜Do You See This Woman?’: Foregrounding Women’s Voices Within the Church and Academia.” I am completely new to ETS and would value anyone coming out to support!

An overlooked giant of the 18th century: Sarah Trimmer (1741-1810)! She authored over 40 works, had 12 children, spent time with the Queen, championed the poor, started Sunday Schools, and influenced Hannah More, Jane Austen, & William Godwin. We need a movie or monograph about her! #history

Bluesky tip for newbies: Bluesky has no real algorithm. Likes here do nothing but show the poster that you enjoyed their content.

That kindness is always going to be appreciated by creators, but if you want to help to boost something here, you have to repost it so others see it. πŸ™‚

Agreed! I'm working on an academic journal article about Lewis's deeply inspiring theories of speech, which he displayed through his talking animals.

Rape, law and stories of trauma: representations of sexual violence in The Australian Women’s Weekly, 1970–82 The 1970s ushered in a period of significant feminist activism, public debate and judicial reform on issues of rape and child sexual abuse.
