Apropos of nothing, you do gotta hand it to KKE, whose leaders took one look at Tsipras and said "nope". They were a punchline at the time, but history has looked pretty kindly on the party's political strategy.

"So, what would you have done differently, Les?" I would have voted for Stavros Dimas to become president and let Samaras eat his own shit.

People use the term β€œPasokification” but there needs to be a term for when a party is so unprepared for its moment that it shits the bed as badly as Syriza did.

I always get drawn back to Al Gore telling voters that he’d only raise taxes on the top 1% and then after the election a poll showed that something like 20% of voters thought they were in the top 1% and another 20% thought they would be in the next five years. Just a total tragic disconnect.

I’ve been thinking a lot about a new kind of polling I’d like to see. We have polling that measures public opinion, which is obviously important, but I’d love to see a little more empirical work on public knowledge: what do voters know about politics and policy?

Note the dishonest "has faced pushback" framing. A way to launder a story they know does not pass a newsworthiness test by pretending to cover the existence of the story as itself being news.

Do you notice how pretty much all of the noisiest and most belligerent War on Terror champions of civilisation have turned out to be bog-standard racist cranks, and mostly enthusiasts for annihilating the Gaza Strip to boot?

(4) Trump and the Republicans don't have an advantage over Democrats because they *better understand heartland Americans.*

They have an advantage over Democrats because they created their own universe of propaganda outlets, and then went out and bought all the mainstream outlets.

Duh.

Zohran Mamdani caught lying that he understood Plato’s allegory of the cave, yet when asked to explain it, he seemed to instead explain Baudrillard’s theory of Simulacra and Simulation where reality has been replaced by symbols and signs, which seems similar to Plato’s theory but is not the same

Listen, museums have you walking a LOT and offer very little seating. If I saw an empty seat after walking a lot, I'd take it. And probably look at my phone.

I would then, after resting, go back to looking at the art.
