Trump is in Texas today because the GOP is in trouble. Presidents don’t campaign in “safe” states unless something’s wrong.
And, there's a lot wrong right now. Texans have suffered under one party rule for too long.
I'm begging my fellow politicians, Illinoisans, and Americans to realize that right now, we aren't fighting over policy or political party.
We're fighting over whether we're going to be a country rooted in empathy and kindness — or one rooted in cruelty and rage.
Prior to 2015, if any candidate for elected office had begun a public statement or tweet with this sentence, he or she would have been laughed out of public life.
Now, Americans re-elect them as commander-in-chief. I will never allow myself to become numb to his insanity.
It’s not leadership anymore it’s a circus, and everyone’s fighting for center ring.
