I was going to write "thanks Obama" as a sort of callback and then I realized someone could take it wrong and then I realized Obama really should be thanked for his efforts (even if they did fall short of universal healthcare) but alas. Anyway. Thanks Obama.

Haven't posted a picture of pie for a while. Well now it's apple pie season! We covered our with salted caramel sauce and didn't quite know what to do with ourselves after.

The 37 Best Cult Documentaries, From Strange to Sinister From utopian communes gone wrong to the true stories of megalomaniacal leaders.

For anyone who’s lost a family member or friend to the cult of conspiracy theories on platforms like Facebook and X, these documentaries can offer a window into an all-too familiar psychology β€” or, for others where the draw is less personal, might simply scratch a voyeuristic itch.

Kurt Vonnegut tells his wife he's going out to buy an envelope:
"Oh, she says, well, you're not a poor man.
You know, why don't you go online and buy a hundred envelopes and put them in the closet?
And so I pretend not to hear her. And go out to get an envelope because I'm going to have a hell of a good time in the process of buying one envelope.
I meet a lot of people. And see some great looking babies. And a fire engine goes by.
And I give them the thumbs up. And I'll ask a woman what kind of dog that is. And, and I don't know. The moral of the story is β€” we're here on Earth to fart around
And, of course, the computers will do us out of that. And what the computer people don't realize, or they don't care, is we're dancing animals. You know, we love to move around.
And it's like we're not supposed to dance at all anymore."

" On April 5th, a 54% tariff goes into effect on a wide range of goods imported from China. For those of us who create boardgames, this is not just a policy change. It's a seismic shift.
At Steve Jackson Games, we are actively assessing what this means for our products, our pricing, and our future plans. We do know that we can't absorb this kind of cost increase without raising prices. We've done our best over the past few years to shield players and retailers from the full brunt of rising freight costs and other increases, but this new tax changes the equation entirely.
Here are the numbers: A product we might have manufactured in China for $3.00 last year could now cost $4.62 before we even ship it across the ocean. Add freight, warehousing, fulfillment, and distribution margins, and that once-$25 game quickly becomes a $40 product. That's not a luxury upcharge; it's survival math.
Some people ask, "Why not manufacture in the U.S.?" I wish we could. But the infrastructure to support full-scale boardgame production – specialty dice making, die-cutting, custom plastic and wood components – doesn't meaningfully exist here yet. I've gotten quotes. I've talked to factories. Even when the willingness is there, the equipment, labor, and timelines simply aren't."

The thing about so-called generative artificial intelligence is, the intelligence isn't artificial. It's real. It's OURS. The techbros stole our intelligence (our data, our thoughts, our stories, our art) and used the software to regurgitate it and spackle it together into digital particleboard.

Eeyore might just be the biggest love bug of all the goats. He loves people so much and will walk beside you like a huge happy dog! His favorite thing is getting scritches all over his shoulders and back. ☺️

Not to mention how it effects the city that surrounds these universities. Lost jobs means less money to spend in stores and restaurants. Fewer students means housing crashing. It's all one big snowball that can wipe out a community.
