It is interesting! The instruments are used in cellular analysis in research and clinical labs, so there are optical, fluidic, and electrical components to be tested. My department is where the instrument is turned on and operated for the first time.

I could go on with a whole thread of preceding context and tradeoffs between the two work experiences, but I won't do that here and will instead say in summary that almost all the positives I anticipated have thus far been realized.

I wasn't even seeking the opportunity, and I had some initial apprehension in the decision. Will see where it goes since it's just a year's contract for now.

It does shorten my commute from 75 km to just 20 and presents a slight raise (yet to be evaluated with factors like health insurance).

At the beginning of November I stepped away from the realm of bacteriology, water quality, and industrial hygiene, and into that of lab instrument manufacturing, but specifically on the test side and not the assembly process (though I am getting some brief immersion in the latter).

Aye, here in SF too I was impressed to see how the buses navigate some of the compact residential streets.

It must've been about 90 minutes away, not long ^^ Was a nice excuse for a little road trip.

Made them again to use up remaining ingredients and still can't get over how pretty they are.

It's a personal favourite recipe but best made as a weekend treat. Each råraka takes at least 20 minutes of gentle frying.

I enjoyed some sushi with Flint raccoon for my birthday yesterday.

Some cute bites included what was basically the eggplant equivalent to a hasselback potato, and a tiny pot of chawanmushi, a savoury custard. The sea urchin was bizarre but worth trying.

I loved that the fox sando included some sweet potato chunks in it this time.
