Made them again to use up remaining ingredients and still can't get over how pretty they are.

It's a personal favourite recipe but best made as a weekend treat. Each råraka takes at least 20 minutes of gentle frying.

Salted and drained sweet potato slivers and rosemary were coated with potato starch and butter before gently frying.

Enjoyed some sights around Sunset District.

I enjoyed some sushi with Flint raccoon for my birthday yesterday.

Some cute bites included what was basically the eggplant equivalent to a hasselback potato, and a tiny pot of chawanmushi, a savoury custard. The sea urchin was bizarre but worth trying.

A deluge rained upon the bay area and I didn't miss an opportunity to enjoy some of my favourite weather. Had some hot cocoa with a large marshmallow afterwards.

On Chenery St is a bookstore where live music is performed on weekend evenings. After hiking, I revisited to watch part of a blue grass performance.

South of Twin Peaks is Glen Canyon, a gem in SF. Sutro Tower peers over the north view along the canyon, while the south view opens towards San Bruno Mountain. I especially enjoyed Coyote Crags trail, a rocky one high over the canyon.

Day

Lush mountain tops and rows of tea trees, cool breeze and wisps of clouds flowing between peaks, clean air and visibility for miles. Two hours on a bus through winding mountain roads, but you've arrived in tea country.

Night

Wispy clouds make way for denser layers as the sky grows dark, mist turns to rain. After hours exploring and hiking, you rest in a tea house and prepare a pot of tea with the pitter patter of rain around you.

I got jar of maple butter (cooked and beaten maple syrup) last month that I've been using as a pancake spread.

I'd thought today it might be interesting to try dressing spaghetti in maple butter, and then I realized that's almost exactly what happens in Elf (the movie from the early 2000s).
