I hope to see more transparency and discussion of all this among people in Maine.
So far...the impression outsiders get is not satisfactory.
There are still months to bring more reality to the situation.

Some of them say what they have done, but with so many anonymous accounts, how can we trust that what they say is the truth?
I've seen 50 post arguments between accounts and then at the end one of the people with super strong opinions about primary candidates reveals they aren't even U.S. citizens.

It's impossible to ever know for sure, but I often wonder about the actual voting history of all these accounts.
Dem bashing, downplaying the importance of election, etc.
Who are these people exactly?
Do they even vote?
If so, who have they voted for over the last, say 20 years.

If he were to win the primary he would be running against a republican.
A republican HE VOTED FOR REPEATEDLY.
Why is every lefty outlet pushing everyone to vote for a guy who is essentially a republican?
They did that with Fetterman and look how that turned out.

And even putting aside his years long record of questionable decision making:
His whole campaign is attacking Democrats.
The JOB he is running for is to WORK WITH Democrats.
That's the job.
If he hates Democrats that much, how the hell is he going to craft legislation with them?
It makes no sense.

We get scolded by the purity police about how we HAVE to applaud this reckless idiot?

Because his opponent in the primary is old?
Because she's a conventional experienced Democrat?

I guess it's related to other issues.
It is essentially free to create a panic out of nothing, demonizing a powerless minority.
Fear mongering is easy.
By contrast, it is extremely expensive and complicated to solve real problems.
Trump and his cabal have no inclination for that kind of task.

Trump has no plan for what happens in the Iranian power vacuum.
Easy to create a vacuum.
Not so easy to fill it.
The pathetic thing is that not only doesn't he have a plan, he doesn't care they he doesn't have a plan.
Just got bored with what was on the screen.
So he changed the programming.

Are our lives so easy in the modern age that we have to create threats where they don't exist?
Is the existential threat of climate change so huge that we pretend it doesn't exist, and then unconsciously displace that anxiety to other areas?
Want a real threat?

There ARE actual problems in the world.
A tiny minority of people being trans is simply not one of them.

Even after all these years I am somehow both depressed + astounded at the politics of trans panic.
There's no threat here.
No crisis to solve.
Just people trying to live their lives without being demonized.
Sad how many people are such easy marks for the right wing trans panic mongers.

It's not what it says.
But of course there are thousands of people (or bots or who the f**k knows what all) who want it to say that.
So they can remain vehemently ensconced in their priors.
He is demanding that trump be made to run any war plan through the congressional approval/denial process.

There is also an unfortunate impulse to desire a king.
Personally I think of politics in terms of a team working within an administration less than the figurehead.
So I have to step outside myself and imagine what the median swing voter responds to.
Biden’s polling never recovered after Afghanistan.

i think we need to make a social shift. instead of proving how cool you are by knifing someone on our team, what if you proved how cool you are by taking the fight to the enemy. crazy thought

A crucial point.
Moral posing on the internet is meaningless vanity.
In elections there is only cause and effect.
Two possible outcomes.
You can push the needle one way or the other with your actions.
And then live with the consequences.

When you make a decision you are displaying power, deliberation, authority, etc.
When you are essentially forced out at the last minute (give or take 100 days) it is a display of weakness, disorder, chaos, etc.
It’s possible either path ends the same way, but it’s impossible to know for sure.

I think it’s possible (considering how crappy Biden’s polling was after leaving Afghanistan and perception of age etc) that the smart play would have been a deliberate passing of the torch.
Regardless of what people thought he had agreed to.
Just on a tactical level.
