A lot of DVD‘s have cool menus, bonus features, games, trailers, etc. For example, watching something like Cars: Mater’s Tall Tales on DVD and seeing the promos, menus and bonuses give me so much nostalgia that watching it on Disney+ can’t replicate. I religiously watched that DVD as a kid.

(cont.), but I don’t feel it’s just that which is the main reason as to why I collect ‘em. Having a physical thing, especially of a movie or show you love, brings me a lot of comfort. It’s why I’ve gotten more into collecting toys as of late too. Plus, DVD’s often have more content than streamers.

Modern tech for a lot of people has gone down the drain a lot over the last few years. A company can easily yank media off a streaming platform and youd be unable to watch it. Unless it was released on home media (which is becoming less likely), you’re screwed. And that’s part of why I collect DVD’s

As a Gen Z kid I always had an appreciation for this stuff, even years before this article existed. Been retro game collecting since 21. I also got a CRT not just for games, but I also hooked it up to my old Sky box so I could watch current day TV and record them to VHS.
