how they expect us to just put up with this, and accept all the changes they're successfully making in an attempt at mass surveillance of the nation, is beyond me. this will spark protests, and they won't be peaceful ones. i'm rooting for Wikipedia to win their lawsuit against Parliament.

i'm not usually one for politics on my platforms, but this is a trend the government has been trying to push for over the past few years, including the attempts to bully companies like Apple and Meta into allowing backdoors into their E2EE messaging apps, and it's genuinely disturbing.

the Online Safety Act is an invasive, authoritarian and entirely misguided piece of legislation disguised as though it's to protect children, when in reality it's to limit freedom of information in the UK and allow the government to monitor our online activity.

why does "crash out" just mean getting a little mad now? i swear every other day i hear that phrase and it's just someone getting slightly irritated, i thought it was supposed to be like mental breakdown levels of anger. it's like how "mid" just means bad now, phrases are being boiled down.

I know every platform is moving in this direction, putting AI as a feature on every possible thing they can, but SoundCloud has no excuse. they're the biggest platform independent artists can easily and freely upload to, and they somehow think this is a good idea? money fuelled delusion.

Been seeing people saying SoundCloud made a statement on twitter about their AI policies, but it looks like it's mostly waffle. their posts say "we don't feed your stuff to AI" but the policy itself is so vague that they could do whatever they want with it.

SoundCloud updated their terms of use to allow my music to be fed to AI. I'm left no choice but to poison any music I have in the works, and to only put the full quality versions up for sale on Bandcamp. It's not safe to post your hard work for free anymore, paywalling it makes it harder to scrape.

i switched to Linux. i said i was thinking about it, but i've done it, kinda. i still run Windows 10 on my desktop, there's some games and software that simply don't work on Linux, even through Wine or Proton, but my laptop now runs Kubuntu. it's going well, steep learning curve, but a fun one.

Premiere is actually so ass as well, moving from that to either DaVinci Resolve, Vegas Pro or Kdenlive as soon as this next main channel video is done. need to spend some time with all three, but Premiere has been getting less stable and slower for like a year at this point, so it's time to move on.

thinking about switching to linux on my laptop, with Windows 10 going EOL soon and Windows 11 just being kinda ass imo i'm slowly giving up on it as a platform. gonna keep running Windows 10 on my desktop until i can't anymore, but i'm certainly warming up to linux.

had my SoundCloud account since 2018 and been paying for Go+ since 2019, but I'm done with it.

AI music is showing up in my recommendations constantly, and the platforms support for it honestly kinda disgusts me.

I'll continue to upload my music to it, but I'm not giving them any more of my money.

stole an idea from a friend to make a spreadsheet for music i listen to, probably the only time i've actually liked using a spreadsheet.

helps me keep track of my physical collection and so i can give things ratings and little reviews, makes me feel like it has actual meaning.

i don't know how it took me this long to listen to a full album by System Of A Down considering how much metal i listen to, but i'm really enjoying it.

absolutely gonna pick up a CD copy of Toxicity when i get paid, i know i can just keep listening on streaming services but i like physical stuff.
